Get the brakes and a service manual and do it yourself. You'll need a basic wrench set (metric), a strong 'C' clamp, and of course, the brake pads. The pads will run about $50 to do the whole cars. Visit your local Auto parts store for more info.

YOU HAVE IMMO ON THAT CAR ,TEST SECOND KEY FIRST,THEN THE IGNITION KEY CONTACT CAN BE FAULTY. SECOND THE STARTER CAN HAVE BAD CABLE ON THE STARTER (COMMON FAULT), IF ITS THE STARTER IT SHOULD BE ABLE TO TOW START THE CAR IF ITS A MANUAL GEAR BOX,

2006 vw passatt-2.0 turbo-need coding for abs module-vehicle has auto hold emergency brake

The only 2 methods I know of to obtain coding for any control unit (and they both require the use of a code reader) are to either read the coding from the old unit, or to code the unit online, but this method can only be done at a VW dealership.
You didnt say why you need the coding, the only reason to require this is if you have replaced the ABS control unit.

VW passatt warning lights staying on

Check the wires that are going to the brake pad sensors.Some shops will install pads that don't have the sensor connections on them, causing this light to stay lit.

The best bet is to go to Bentleypublishers.com. They produce service manuals for VW and theirs is about the best manual you will be able to get.It has a lot of testing data, such as voltage amounts for sensors to help diagnose problems and procedures.
You should also consider joining a free forum called vwvortex. It is devoted to cars built be VW and is separated into models. You car would be in the B3 & B4 forum for all things except the engine. The engine would be in the 16 valve forum. There is a lot of info and help available there as well. They will expect that you own a Bentley manual and have gone through it to no avail when you post a problem.
