Question about 1990 Jaguar XJ6

1 Answer

Interior fan not wrking

I purchaed a well used 1990 xj6,,,this is the best car i have driven so far,,,being she has 160,plus thousand miles,,and was sitting for a long time,,,i am very impressed with this car,,how well she is put together,,the awsome power and thrust and the smooth ride.

I have 3 herniated disks,,,she rides nice,,,!!!!!!!! very fast and smooth,,,!!!

Only one issue i can not figure out,,,,,,the interior fan does not work,,nada,,no heat in winter,,no A/C in summer. I purchased an 12 volt heater to clean the windsheild in the winter,,,that works pretty good for a  12 heater,,takes a bit of time to clean up the glass,,but otherwise good.

Why would the fan not work at all,,,,Fuse,,,no,,switch,,,???? relay,,???
i am lost with the electrical system,,i can not find the issue,

Look in the passenger footwell. if there is any moisture at all then the cowl drain around the windshield wipers is cloged. I know oyu think this is irrelavant but it is. If water is comming in then it has to pass right over the heater fan. so your fan motor may have been reduced to a ball of rust.

What motor oil is best to use in my 1991 Jaguar xj6 with 108,000 miles on it and how often should it be changed

Pennzoil High Mileage 10w30 as well as a Fram High Mileage filter. 10w30 is an all around oil that's suitable for ALL temperature ranges, except for below zero degrees Fahrenheit...possibly -10 degrees. Any other oil has a range that's not acceptable in ranges above 60 degrees Fharenheit or below 30 degrees Fahrenheit. I would also recommend putting a BG® product in your oil when changing it called MOA. This will "clean" the mechanical parts of detergents left from all the other oils used thus far that have stuck to various components. Insofar as changing the oil? Every 5000 miles, with the newer oils available is enough. The old 3000 mile rule is over-kill now a days..

1990 Jaguar XJ6 This is really going to sound dumb, but my daughter was just given a used Jaquar and I told here she needs to get the oil, transmission fluid and anti-freeze changed. Where is the hood...

It is almost hidden, but about 8-10inches up from the door sill, driver's side below the vent and below the interior trim.
It's there and not easy to may have use 2 fingers to pull it.

I have a 1990 xj6 jaguar. Two problems I am

Had a similar problem within the last year. Either your fuel pump is failing or your fuel filter is partially blocked. Change both and drive away.

I have a 94 4.0L and I use 10W-40 in the winter and 20W-50 in the summer. It keeps the pressure up and it doesn't smoke when I start it because of the valve seals. It takes 8 quarts everytime including the filter. 2 gallon jugs. I change it about every 4,000 miles.
