You can't stop short with front end repair or your just throughing money away . But upper and lower ball joints are the biggest problem on this vehicle . The uppers are not bolted they used rivits to hold them to the frame and with antilock brakes the vehicle shakes from side to side and this loosens the rivets once there loose the front end can not be alinged So start with that ball joints the rest of the parts are heavy dudty

Definitely start with the ball joints.

You can check them by placing a jack under the control arm and jacking the wheel aff the ground about on inch or so. With a pry bar inserted under the wheel pull up on the pry bar (it helps to have a helper do this while you watch the lower ball joint where it connects to the knuckle). If the ball joint moves it is bad.

With the wheel still jacked up push in and pull out on the top of the tire. The upper will move in and out if it is bad when you do this.

These are very common front end parts to fail on these vehicles and will cause the symptoms you have described. One the repairs are made an alignment should be done.

Wearing on the inside is probably from negative camber. The cupping is caused from several things: wheel bent or out of balance, worn tie rod ends, worn idler arm, worn shock absorbers. The only way to tell what needs to be replaced os to have the front end inspected by an alignment specialist. My guess is you are looking at replacing all the above items, plus the ball joints and control arm bushings. You can buy the control arms with the bushings and ball joints already installed. It's a lot cheaper than having the old bushings and ball joints replaced. If you buy new tie rod ends, get the good stuff. I just replaced mine with the low priced Chinese junk, and the threads on the new castellated nuts stripped out before they reached the proper torque. And the threaded part of the tie rod end where the nut goes would start spinning and wouldn't tighten up all the way. So, get the name brand items and save yourself a lot of headaches.

My front passenger wheel makes a rubbing noise at 50 mph

You just need to have a mechanic or someone look at the front end. Has it been happening long enough to cause any odd tire wear on the tire? If the front end alignment is off, you could certainly get a lot more road noise, but even a badly worn tire would cause some noise.
If the tire is actually rubbing against something, and you hear it at 50 mph, that seems to indicate badly worn suspension parts- like ball joints or struts...so you should consider a good front end alignment shop and tell them the condition. They can check the tires and the front end as well. A reputable shop would check all that anyway, to make sure that the alignment job will actually keep the front end true.

Approximate cost of alignment for 2007 MB C230 and is it needed, just replaced tires and has 69K.

Front wheel alignment $60-80. Four wheel? double. As far as needing it, shops will always try to say you need it. I go by how the old tires were wearing. Did it pull left or right? Did the tires wear evenly? Did they wear on the inside track? Then definately! If on the outside that's more normal but only so much. If your car drives straight and you never hit curbs or cement stops or big holes then you may be OK.

I have a creaking noise coming from the front driver side when making turns at low speed. Also, the front driver side tire is wearing off on the inside. Kim

the tie road end + rack end is the main proplem for making your tire wearing off
the noisy at slow speed coming from tire
you can check that by make the tire free by putting the car on the lift then you catch the tire from side and try to move it (in-out) if its move that mean you need to change even tie road end or rack end or both

I have uneven wear on my 2006 toyota tundra tires, the right tires are worn much more on the outer edge than the left. any thoughts?

You have a front suspension part that is worn and/or need the front end aligned. If problem is in the rear you may need a four wheel alignment. If it was low air pressure it would wear the inside and outside edges of the tires.

Both rear tires are wearing on the inside.

you need an alignment. Its a toe-in, your tie rods need to adjusted. Check your tire pressure too.

Tires wearing inside on 2008 Impala LT

this is a wheel camber (in and out tilt of wheel and tire) problem, u may have to have a Camber adjustment kit put in, most new cars have no adjustment provided for this. the bottom line here is you need to see a really good front end shop to get this taken care of, also the tires will continue to wear this way even if problem is corrected, so may want to replace them or rotate them.
