  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the serpentine drive belt.
  3. Raise and support the vehicle safely.
  4. Remove the right front wheel from the vehicle.
  5. Remove the right wheel inner fender splash shield.
  6. If equipped, remove the alternator dust shield attaching bolt and unclip the shield from the alternator. When removing the dust shield, be careful not to damage the rubber boot over the battery's positive terminal.
  7. Disengage the alternator field wire connector.
  8. Remove the retaining nut and wire from the positive (B+) terminal on the back of the alternator, using alternator output stud wrench SA9401C or equivalent, as a back-up wrench to prevent the stud from rotating. If the positive terminal stud rotates, the plastic insulator will crack or break, causing alternator failure.
  9. Remove the upper and lower alternator attaching bolts.
  10. Remove the alternator from the vehicle through the wheel well opening

    To install:

    1. Position the alternator in the vehicle and install the lower attaching bolt.
    2. Install the upper attaching bolt and tighten both bolts to 24 ft. lbs. (32 Nm).
    3. Engage the alternator field wire connector.
    4. Install the B+ terminal wire. The battery terminal wire should be placed on the back of the alternator between a 10 and 11 o'clock position.
    5. Be sure to use the alternator output stud wrench SA9401C to prevent the terminal stud from rotating, then tighten the alternator positive terminal nut to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
    6. Install the alternator dust shield and tighten the fastener bolt to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
    7. Install the serpentine drive belt.
    8. Install the wheel well splash shield and right front wheel. Tighten the wheel lugs in a criss-cross pattern to 103 ft. lbs. (140 Nm).
    9. Remove the supports and lower the vehicle.
    10. Connect the negative battery cable

THE ALTINATOR ON MY PICKUP TRUCK IS NOT PUTTING OUT AMPS TO THE AMP METER. THE BATTERY IS NEW AND THE ALTINATOR IS NEW ALSO, WHY WON'T THE ALTINATOR PUT OUT AMPS ?undefined

What model and make is your truck?
Older vehicles differ widely from later ones. Is the regulator separate from the alternator? If so, you might need to replace the regulator.
On some vehicles, the regulator was booted by the indicator lamp on the dash. If the light does not work (blown), the alternator does not charge.

Where is the altinator on the engine?

your altinator is on the passenger side rear of the engine.. To remove you may have to jay the vehicle up, remove the inner fender plastics. The you'll need a wrench for the tension pulley, there aint much room in there and they do have a special tool. while you are in there take a look at your water pump pulley, with the belt off spin it and make sure it's nice and smooth. those pulleys like to go and snap right off.. Also check with your local Chrystler Dodge dealer. You may have a recall on that On a thing called a cruise harness. It's just a link they install that only takes about 5 minutes and wont cost you a thing.

I have a 2001 galant v6 and my battery isn't being

The altinator is missing ground, any time you remove the battery and the engine dies, that only means that the altinator is not charging, there has to be a fuse for charging systme.

1998 Deville info system is saying battery is not charging

Check for the terminals for the battery and the alternator first. The alternator may not also be delivering current properly. Check the belt drives. Other than that it may be a bad alternator.

How do i pull out the altinator in a 1991 mr2

There are 2 ways I dont like either one. But the easyer of the 2 would be if you have an after market exhaust pull it off, then take out the altinator from the bottom...slide it across the sub frame and pull it out. The other is to take out everything above the altinaor, and remove the 10 lb. bracket that holds it up and pull it out the top. Good luck!

1991 Dodge 4x4 truck altinator will not charge, new altinator, all fuses are good and serkets. Altinator will not charge.

Change voltage regulator. Does the battery take a charge from a charger? If not, replace battery. If it does, then regulator is faulty. If still nothing, return alternator to place of purchase, and have it checked.
