Have you found outwhat the codes mean? I am guessing but the flashing may be the code if you count the on and off times. Autozone or Advance many be able pull and tell you what eh codes mean.

if you have a code reader/scan tool you can check the O2 sensor PIDs to see if the O2 sensors are slow. if the scan tool lets you read mode 6 you can also check how close any cylinder is close to setting a misfire DTC code. good luck

The check engine light is flashing in my 2002 mazda protege 5. what does this mean?

This means an error has been detected by your engine management system. The next step is to pull the error codes from the computer and investigate those indications.

Mazda Protege 5 engine light on, car running rough...

I would run diagnostics on the vehicle, that should point you towards the cause.

I have a 2003 Mazda protege 5. check engine light no codes

Remove the wire from the negative terminal on the battery and wait a few minutes, then reconnect the wire. This will "reset" the computer and remove the check engine light. If the light comes back on, take it to a Mazda service center and let them read the code. They will be able to tell you what is wrong. Pepboys, Autozone....arent always the smartest cookies and are wrong more than they are right.

2002 Mazda Protege timing belt replaced and

Scan PCM for codes. Check that timing is correct again. These DOHC engines are easy to install a tooth out. Start from the top of engine when installing timing belt on this type of engine it's the easiest way to do it. If you took CRANKSHAFT pulley apart make sure the pick up ring behind isn't placed in backwards.

Obd2 code p0300 on mazda protege 2002

Just had one of these with a maxima, the code is multiple random misfire, when a misfire occurs, to start is do the basics, replace the plugs, check fuel pressure, clean throttle body, and coolant is topped up. also I have seen if the O2 sensor is not working correctly is can cause a misfire, you will need a scan tool to look at what the O2 sensor is doing, o rby back probing the sensor (don't damage the O2 sensor wires). If it wires replace them as well, if it has coils they usually dont give that code if one fails, it will pinpoint that a certain coil if one fals.

Check engine light is on. The test said the coolant was too cold. What does that mean? It's a 2002 madza prodege

This could mean your thermostat has failed and is stuck open not allowing you vehicle to come up to operating temp, or you have a bad Engine Coolant Temp Sensor.

If your heater is taking a long time to start blowing warm air, it is probably a bad thermostat.
