Hi there i too have a 1994 Volvo 850 Turbo, i went through the same
awful, dangerous stalling problem if you have the same lights coming
up, oil, and what not then sudden loss of power, no engine rpm but
other electrics like radio work etc, i could never tell that i was
stalling because i always had the music on, but watch the Rpm's i also
had no power steering so i found out quick i was stalled, i would then
after a few minutes, 5 max be able to restart the car, it should very
likely be the fuel pump relay, its located where the fuses are on the
left side under a couple of torx screws, its a green most likely relay labeled 103, if its red it might have already been changed or newer,
i'm not sure what the colour difference does, but i replaced my relay
with a 103 red relay from a 1998, or 1999 Volvo s&0 same relay. I
found and researched that its a famous problem and can be many things
like cam shaft postilion sensor, vacuum leaks, fuel pump etc, but if
you can hear the pump on start up when the car is just ON it should be
fine, the relay after time becomes intermittent and switches on and off
as it pleases sometimes aggravated by turns and what not i think to due
the pump and gas slushing around? However, you have described the exact
problem my car had and the Volvo Experts couldn't figure it out, it
never stalled for them during roads tests or during a run in the shop,
always did for me, its the Fuel Pump Relay* available on ebay, for
cheap as pay no more than $60 Cdn, as i think a new one is around that
price.
A recommendation is to get the redish pinky one as it
worked for me, i know it is newer than the green 103 relay, let me know
if it works but it for sure changed things for me, no more scare of
ending up a road hazard or being embarrassed.
My 1994 850 Volvo did the same thing and it was the Throttle Position Sensor
Problem is usually due to fuel relay. There are two of them one near the radiator and one near the fuse box, it is the fuse box one that causes the problem. Some people have said you can knock on it to get it temporarily working again, I replaced mine and the problem has not reappeared.

It has a new battery. I have taken it to the shop on several occasions (when it is running) and have had it connected to the computer but they cannot find anything wrong with it.
I've had the same problem. For 2 years now my wife's 1994 Volvo 850 (non-turbo) has been stalling, seemingly randomly. It may stall slightly more frequently on a slope, but not necessarily. I have replaced the fuel filter and have inspected the fuel evaporation system for any leaks or kinks in the hose. I have found a worn hose on the rollover valve that shuts the line if the car is on a slope over 45 degrees. I have fixed that problem at least once but to no avail. Today I found the same hose cracked after the car stalling 12 times in three days with not that much driving. I am skeptical if this will fix the problem, but I sure hope so. If anybody knows of something else I would love to hear it.
i have a 1995 850 se auto, today, the car vould not start as turning the ignition key. it looks like there is no sign of reaction from the car. the battery is ok and i've tryed to start with jumpers with no differencies at all. the car has alwayse start at first attempt befor today...
