Famous problem for saturn, yes that bolt (output shaft) has come loose, and it only gets worse-You have to buy a new one, and get one for the input shaft while you are at it-saying that, I'll add some people get away with draining the trans (about 5 quarts) and remove the spin on filter, and refil with 4 quarts of Dextron III and one quart of a trans cleaner/solvent. Then park the car so that the rear of the car is resting against a wall, or telephone pole, something substantial and stationary-Put the car in reverse, and let it idle for 30-40 minutes. It cleans out the valve body (sometimes) enough so that the pressures are high enough to give you back some reverse-it worked for me (99 SL2, 178,000 miles)-You need to drain that mixture out after a short while and put in 5 quarts of Dextron and another filter (trans fluid changes are so easy in a Saturn, like changing engine oil-easy). If you end up doing the bolt fix, you should also do the valve body fix too, that is get a rebuilt one from one of the people who do them all the time-it is a little cottage industry and you can find them on Saturn car forums.

I have a 2000 Saturn sl2 and The right front motor mount was broke right down the middle and I replaced with oem part and it seemed to help quit a bit but still shifting hard what is wrong you think .

most engines have 3 or 4 engine mounts and if one had failed the others will be close behind. Misalignment of the engine to the shifting operation will lock levers or jam cables.

Saturn sl2 2000

While the hood is open. Rn the engine with a helper operating the gas pedal and e-brake locked. Place the car in D and then R while you are watching the engine from the side. Have the helper step on the gas in each of the gears and watch what happens to the engine. If the engine jumps around,, then you have other mounts that are broken and need replacing.

Rotor change on 2000 saturn s series

1) Chock the back wheels and put the ebrake on
2) Loosen the front lug nuts (19MM)
3) Jack car up and place on jack stands, make sure car is secure
4) Remove front wheels.
5) Start on the drivers side and look at the top of the caliper
6)
Remove the two larger bolts on the inside of the bracket that attach it to the knuckle.
7) Hang the caliper and bracket assembly on the springs by tying it with wire so you do not put stress on the brake line.

1999 saturn sl2 transmission wont shift from 1st gear

Your valve body and possibly input shaft nut need to be replaced. The valve body's booster valve is worn down and won't create pressure. Before it went completely out it slammed on the input shaft nut and loosened it.

You need to replace the valve body and retorque the input shaft nut. The transmission is not junk. The above needs to be replaced and change the filter and fluid and do it every 20K miles.

1991 saturn sl2 water pump replacement

well first you drain the coolant out at the low point on the radiator, that way it is saved if new. then you take off the right front wheel and remove the plastic access cover from behind the wheel to get to that side of the engine. then you take off the serpentine belt and etc. yes you can do this with the engine still in the car. you may want to consider replacing the serpentine belt and tensioner while you are in that area.

My 98 saturn sl2 is very hard on reverse. if the engine just started, it reverse slightly. but as the engine gets warm the reverse is not working. help please.

could be 3 things
if you have reverse but a bad delay into reverse it could be a loose input shaft nut in the trans, and or a bad valve body
if you have no reverse you got a torn seal in the trans but if you have a torn seal you will have no second gear as well as they share this seal,,,i would take it to the saturn dealer as trans shop have no idea how to fix these, like cottman and them have no idea,,take it to saturn

What kind of mirror would be for a 1993 SL2 saturn passenger side.

Your mirror is most likely black, just like all the other Saturns of that year. Knowing that, now is it power or manual? Now you go to ebay motors and search for a passenger side mirror of the right color and control. There are lots of them listed and all will fit all Saturn SL models 91-95. There is a little phillips screw holding in the cosmetic piece inside the front door at the front of the window. Unscrew that and you will see three larger nuts, take those off and the mirror will come off. Put your new mirror on the reverse order.

2002 Saturn SL1 - Losing reverse and second gear

The simple answer is that there are two loose nuts in the transmission.

The output shaft nuts are loose. The are behind a cover that you can see through the driver's side wheel well.

98 Saturn SL2, manual trans. No reverse or 5th gear.

most likely the gears are worn out or possibly broken teeth on the gear that usually happens when it pops out of gear or wont engage at all!
