Thank you so much for your help! I did exactly what you suggested a few weeks back and I had a loose hose. I got it fixed and it now is running wonderful again. It has 91,800 miles.

My 1999 Boxster engine warning light stays on and the car stalls when stopped. My levels are good, and the gas cap is tight. A trip to a German car repair specialist only resulted in a very temporary fix -light came back on and it still stalls at a traffic at a stop.

If you go to an auto parts store, they can probably read the code for you. Once you have the code, do an online search for Porsche ODBII codes, and you can findout what the issue is. The problem can be one of many different things, and there is no way to diagnose it without knowing which code activated the light. You also don't state mileage, if there is any rough idling, etc.

DO YOU USE HIGH GRADE FUEL? IF NOT ANY OTHER FUEL CONTAINS ETHANOL WHICH ATTRACTS WATER/MOISTURE.

Oil light stays on why?

It could be that your oil pump is going bad and not generating the correct oil pressure in the engine.

2002 Porsche Boxster - had squealing coming from

Mine did that off and on for a month with no other problems then it started making a loud suction noise and the check engine light came on. I took it to the dealer and they said the "oil separator" needed to be replaced.
After the repair I never heard the squealing again.

Loss of power when it rains.

If your air filter is not fresh, the difference in the weather conditions actually causes the air filter to restrict the flow of air into the engine just enough that the super sensitive system you are driving notices it.

There are also other sensors that pick this up causing a performance change in the operating system. If your filter has recently been changed then of course other than being soaked with water in freezing temperatures, this shouldn't be a factor. Just a consideration:

this is also a sign of the car going into the "limp" operation and could also be caused by something getting wet, such as the ignition system. Double check your seals and panels that block moisture from your engine components. Wiring can be sprayed with sealers to help in preventing excessive moisture if your wiring is showing any age.

Good Luck

1999 Porsche Boxster Check Engine Light

Take the car to an autoparts store and have them scan the computer. Most parts stores will do the scan for free. I wouldn't think that the two issues are related. Hope this helped and best wishes.

1999 Porsche Boxster - The diganostics call checking the mass air sensor by connecting the diagnostic device and driving the car in 3rd gear to 35 and then pressing the gass pedal to the floor to raise to...

If you can check actual values whilst engine is idling, air mass should be around 18kg. The symptoms you mention indicate a maf sensor is at fault, these are prone to failing and can cost around £300 from porsche
