Could be a bad gasket or a bad water pump.If the gasket isn't sealed properly you with spray out water. It is possible to get a bad water pump, but not likely.Check the gasket first.

Signs bad water pump put in new one and its still leaking

I can only ake guesses at your problem because you haven't given a year of the Maxima. There are some basic mistakes which are of made by non professionals. When replacing a waterpump, make sure that the surface on the front cover which the pump mounts to is absolutely clean. This means no residual gasket material. Although the pump can be installed with silicon alone, I do not recommend it. You can buy a water pump gasket from Nissan and from many after market parts houses. USE A GASKET! NO SILICON!! you can buy a gasket adhesive in a spray can to hold the gaskey in place if you are having a problem with the gasket staying in the proper position. Usually there are two pins on the front cover which the pump lines up with when you install it. The gasket has holes for these pins to go through. Be careful in tighing the bolts, tightening them cross wise Tighten one and then go accross to the opposite side of the pump and tighten that bolt. "DO NOT TIGHTEN THEN FULLY ON THE FIRST TIME YOU PUT THE BOLT IN AND TIGHTEN IT ALL TH WAY>). and not just going around the pump clockwise or counter clockwise, bolt after bolt. Make it fully tight on the second time you go around, New pumps don't always mean you will get one which is not defective. I have run into a situation one time where I had to change a water pump on a 1978 280Z 3 times before the one I got one from the parts depatment that didn't leak! (AND THIS WAS WHILE I WAS WORKING AT A DATSUN DEALER!).Note: also make sure that your leak is not coming from somewhere above the pump and running down on the pump. An aftermarket pump which I have had reasonably good luck with is GMB.Hopefully this has shed some light on your problem.

I fill it up and it takes two or three days to leak out.I have tried stop leak and dye, check all the hose connect with water in a spray bottle. Is there a other test i can do.

If this is a water leak check water pump diaphram (the hole in the bottom of pump) if you see water around this area replace water pump. Also check water pump gaskets for leak.Or have it pressure tested.

How difficult to change the water pump? Should I assume just releasing the fan belt, 4 bolts and it's off?

found this from answers.com.....1. Depressurize and drain the cooling system. 2. Loosen the alterantor adjustment and remove the belt. 3. Remove the water pump pulley. 4. Remove all the timing belt covers. 5. Loosen the timing (camshaft) belt tensioner and slip the timing belt off the camshaft toothed pulley (ensure you do not move the positon of the camshaft) 6. Unbolt the lower radiator hose fitting and heater retrun pipe. 7. Unbolt the waterpump from the block (5 bolts). 8. Remove all traces of the old gasket before mounting the new pump (Permatex spray on gasket remover works well). 9. Install the new pump and reassemble in reverse order to above.

I recently replaced my water pump. this afternoon my car overheated and radiator fluid was leaking above the water pump

Check your thermostat. It may be sticking and keeping the coolant from flowing, hence the overheating. Where above the water pump is it leaking? Hopefully you didn't blow a head gasket.

I have an 86 honda accord lxi with an oil leak. we have changed the valve cover gasket, oil pan gasket, oil pump gaskets, and the cam seal, but it still leaks from the timing belt cover and sprays onto the...

There are two slots in the valve cover right by the cam shaft sprocket that have to be honda bonded or black rtv. look closely at the valve cover right above the gasket underneath the timing belt cover. Hope that helps.
