I would check to see if you have trailer wiring. Most of the time it's not installed properly and will fail and cause the problems you are having.

1987 ford ranger turn signals keep blowing fuses. have changed flasher fuse and switch on column. just keeps blowing?


first thing i guess to understand what is going on here ,is a little back to basics on how turnsignals work , first item you have is power fuse then it's off to flasher module than it goes to the turnsignal switch on colum ,of course anywhere on it way to there the power could got to ground and cause the fuse to trip, now the power depending on Left or right selection , is directed to lights on both front and back of truck,thankfully rangers don't have em on the side) now any place in this pathway the wire could go to ground and blow the fuse, now to troubleshoot and narrow down the area that fault is located , (1) replace fuse with correct size and ck for proper fit in fusebox and start and operate truck for a few minutes DO not use turnsignals, ck fuse is it still good if so go to step 2 if not stop and ck wire conditions in steering colum and switch(2) start truck and try right hand turn signal only verify lights working ,Ok yes/no if not replace fuse and try left side same way, Ok yes /no if right or left side only blows fuses take ALL bulbS OUT of lights and try again , if fuse still blows then look for wire fault on that side of truck if fuse is still good then look carefull at light bulb sockets for rust and powered corrosion (ill bet an 87 has some ) you may need to replace bulb sockets , they do sell em in autoparts stores .

Brack lights wont light up on my 1988 ford ranger we keep blowing fuse and put in new brake switch


If you keep blowing the brake fuse than you have a short in the system. Unplug the brake switch. Install a new fuse. If it did not blow than the problem is after the brake switch. Next unplug the turn signal switch, then plug the stop light switch back in and press the brake pedal. Did the fuse blow. If not than the wiring is good in between the two switches. With the turn signal switch disconnected use a jumper wire in between the light green wire (power from the brake switch) and the orange with light blue wire (power to the right brake lamp). If the fuse blows than there is a short in the right side brake circuit between the plug in and the rear socket assembly. If the fuse does not blow than jump from the light green wire to the Light green with orange wire (power to the left brake lamp). If the fuse blows than the problem is in the left hand brake wiring circuit.

2002 tracker,keeps blowing 15 amp fuse that runs heatr fan and lets car shift out of park


I looked at the wiring diagrams and those two circuits should be on two different fuses.
The shift lock solenoid is powered by the 10amp turn signal fuse and the 15amp stop light fuse. If the fuse blows when you put it in park, I would say the shift lock solenoid is the problem and the stop light fuse is the one that is blowing.
The heater fan and relay are powered by a 60amp fuse and a 15amp fuse but not the stop light fuse.
Its possible there is a short some where that has connected these two circuits.
You could disconnect the shift lock solenoid to see if the fuse still blows.

Turning my headlights on blows the fuses to running lights and dashlights


headlight switch is bad, change the headlight switch itsellf will short out, therefore blowing your fuse. turn signals and break lights are on a different relay, therefore they will still work

Why are my turn signals not working?


If they turn signal indicator merely turns on, rather than flash on the dashboard, this is indicative of a blown bulb on the exterior of the car. Check the fender, bumper and tail lights for a lamp that is out. If the turn signal lamp on the dash does NOT come on with a solid arrow? It could be anything from a blown fuse to a dead flasher module. Check fuses for turn/tail/stop light circuits in this case. If any are blown, replace. If the replacement blows the second it touches the panel socket, you may have a short in body harnesses. If it does not blow and you still have no turn signal indicator on dash, check/replace flasher module.

Brake lights inop,fuses constantly blows


Stop lights are genrally routed through rhe tur signal control, which is the most likely place to have a problem. If the signal control feels unusual. there's that maybe provided you've gone the gambit of checking bulbs, pedal switch, etc. get an automatic fuse from the psrts store and put it in the bad fuse spot. It will go on and off like a flasher untul you locate the short. Get one that is lower than the one that blows to get it flashing faster. Do your turn signals and 4 ways workand see whar the do when you appliy the brake whilr on. Good luck

there is most likely a short in the wires have you put a tow package on it if so did you splice in to the lines check all wires and see if they are burnt any were most likely short
