Remove cable from transmission,follow cable behind engine,along exhaust pipe,then up through floor into center console.along the way you will find retainer clips (on both ends of cable) which hold the cables in place,and also underneath you will find a fastner which holds cable to bottom of floorboards and a panel with a rubber gasket in which the cable goes up into the console through. you must then remove center console to release the other end of cable.Once cable is loose go under car in the middle of the cable and pull out from floor then pull the other end out from engine compartment.

After obtaining a kit from a dealership installation is simple. Open the glove box and squeeze on th sides, and the glove box will release from the dash board ethier un screw the base or it will pop off
There are bushings on the shifter rods where the transaxle and the shifter rods connect and they are worn out. Replacing these will solve that problem. I had one do the exact same thing a few years ago and drove me nuts. This is most likely the problem. Either that or the transmission mount is severely worn out. Check that as well because they can imitate one another.
under the battery is a small stick out of the tranny. a bit hard to get to but its there (tip: dont let car heat up too much cause you are puttin your arm through the radiator hoses and other hot spots)
hello first you need to check the bulb below the gear shift panel that is not blown then if available your book on your car has a listing page usually in back look for fuses go to page it should have a diagram for fuses see wich one is for illumination of your shifter check fuse replace if needed goodluck
