My 97 Aurora has been making a clicking sound when I go to start it up, it started out clicking only once or twice, but then went on clicking more to about 3 - 4 times. Then recently it started out not starting at first when it clicked and I had to wait a couple of seconds and then it would start up fine. Today it started fine when I left my house for work but then I stopped to drop of my daughter and went back to the car and it wouldnt start at all. It was clicking but didnt want to turn over completely. It was odd because my air conditioner kept turning on and you could here the cd player in the trunk go through to find a cd! Please help me figure out what is going on with my car. Thank you

If you checked you battery with a load tester and it was good there are two things for you to check. First check all of your cables to be sure you have good contacts and that they are clean and not frayed. also follow cables and look for "bumps" in the line. Check to be sure the connection to the starter is clean and tight. If all is good and it still will not start then remove you alternator and have it tested and repaired as required

I have a 2006 Saturn Ion. I bought new fuses and replaced the old ones. However, after replacing the old ones, I found out my car won't start. Does anyone know how to fix it?

Make sure battery has a full charge and battery connections are all good. If the battery is down, we're just spinning our wheels. If it's down, get a charger and charge it up.
Then if it cranks good but won't start, have a helper crank it while you check for spark at the plugs. If spark everywhere, use a gage and check proper fuel pressure and fuel injector pulse.
Check for applicable trouble codes.

No that is not vapor lock, that doesn't happen on newer cars and trucks. Have you had it checked for fault codes?

1987 Honda prelude dash lights Pgm-fi coming on

pedal pressure? the throttle sticks< OPEN?
ive never ever seen a post ever for pedal pressure,
what does that mean? im clueless here, and sounds very scary.
to any mech. after all, throttle valves failures, can be man killers.
when failed does the engine crank over full speed with the starter?
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr fail to start.
that normal sound of a good starter, yes?

is this an intermittent problem only?

NO start, ? (cranks robustly)
no, lets start at step one.
1: check all fuses. in both fuse boxes.
2: are the Headlamps working at full brightness.
3: does all the normal dash cluster lamps glow , key on.
Charge, Brake , Check engine lamp> all glow, if not, stop.
4: spark got spark at all cylinders, (a test)
my guess is engine is flooding, (smells) and is due to
lost spark.
ever do the 60k mile tuneup this decade?

this very old car has relic, warnings, back then.
non standard.

the PGM-FI is early name for CEL, check engine
on this engine you must find the ECU (PGM-FI box)
and see the LEDs on the side.
they can be made to blink secret codes. errrors
these errors will be key to diagnosis, i bet.

here is the clue

the cars FSM book covers how to diagnose no starts
or no cranks.

My 1997 isuzu rodeo wont start. i checked the battery and it has a good charge so its not that and when i turn the key the dash lights up and everything but i dont even hear a click. when i turn the key...

Make sure battery has a full charge and battery connections all good, on both ends, not just at the battery. I looked at info for 4 cylinder engine. You can see the two fuses, not only check the fuses, use a test light and check voltage at fuse circuit. The main fuse is hot all the time. The starter fuse goes hot with key in start position, so you need a helper to turn the key while you check for voltage at the fuse. At the starter motor, two voltage circuits, one comes from the battery, hot all the time. The other circuit goes hot with key in the start position and is wired through clutch switch and starter relay. The starter motor grounds through the engine block. If good voltage and ground circuits at the starter motor and no action, have to check starter motor and make sure the engine isn't seized. Any testing at starter motor, make sure tranny is in park or neutral and parking brake is set.

'97 Olds Aurora - AC stopped and check charging system light came on - next day car would not start or take a jump. replaced battery (was at 9.3 volts), car starts but still says check charging system....

have a battery load tested
battery should be 12.5-13.5 volts at rest and no lower than 11 volts while cranking
next have an auto electrician to a charging system check
check that the drive belt is in good condition and tensioned properly

'97 Olds Aurora prob with coded key and Error 22 on radio

If the battery is definitely good ... (checked by whom? I've seldom find anyone at stores that could check a battery to save their lives) are you sure? A good battery should run your headlights for at least 4 hours with the engine not running ... And the terminals are good and clean, your sure? Both sides of the Negative cable is good ... After trying to start it (you say its not turning over or cranking) do the thick battery cables get quite warm or HOT? (why it is killing the battery) You may have a bad starter ... or the engine is seized ... Save the problem of fixing your CD player for after you can start the car ... unless you plan on sitting in the driveway rocking out!
