I have the same issue, but only happens on really hot days. If the outside Temp is less than 85, no issues and runs perfect. Went to a mechanic who said it was the Fuel Pump assembly, which includes the pressure regulator I believe. I just replaced the assembly yesterday. Seems to run fine. I test drove it for 3 hours straight in 95 degree weather. However, I strongly have my doubts that it's truly fixed.

I have a 97 JGC and it spits and sputters when I start out in the morning and then it runs fine. If I park it for a few hours it will do it again. If this had a EGR valve I would say that was what it was. I had this so long going on I got used to it.

1988 jeep larado recent tune up and will usually run fine especially in town.. but on the hiway or accelerating onto the hiway sometimes engine will sputter or shudder {Like a fuel problem} when you back...

check all your spark plug cables, if moisture gets in to the boots it can cause a short near any metal surface, replace all your fuel filters and run some lucas oil fuel injector cleaner and stp octane booster.those worked on my 89.and the carb or throttle body might need to be cleaned with some spray cleaner, there are 2 different 1's /1 for carbs and 1 for throttle bodies.

Sometimes my jeep sputters like it is running out of gas but it isnt then when i press the gas all the way to the floor it does nothing ,and then it dies if i shut it off and crank it back up it its fine...

The first thing I check for this sort of symptom is the fuel filter. Sometimes you get a bad load of gas with sand or other stuff in it, and it clogs the filter. When you try to accelerate, it either fails to respond or dies. When the engine is off, some of the material seems to fall off and it will run again for a while. It's the cheapest thing to replace, and usually easy to do, so it never hurts to try.

1995 Jeep grand cherokee is missing while running. When it is under a heavy load (driving fast) it runs fine. When idleing and slow driving it spits and sputters.

I have the same problem on my 95 grand cherokee laredo. Sometimes it starts out fine and after about 10 miles it starts spitting and sputtering. Then after a while it seems to clean out and run fine again for a little while. Then other times it starts out spitting and sputtering at the begining. I changed the fuel filter and that was not it. It is a 4.0L 6cyc. Any Ideas?

98' Jeep Grand Cherokee V8

sounds like a bad pump, filter or both. Do some testing before replacing though, a bad crankshaft sensor can do pretty much the same thing! Parts are not cheap...testing is very important!!!

sounds like a ignition problem, try new cap rotor and wires and plugs if this does not fix your problem it is either your coil or distribitor
