Question about 1992 Honda Accord

Primary oxy sensor and ignition output codes show

The rpm gauge jumps franticly around from time to time...i just had the initor replaced...the primary oxy senor code shows on the ecu as well as the igniton output...the gears seem to not want to hold it kind of sputters and fights to stay in gear...also the down pipe is bent...would that cause a clog and damage the primary oxy sensor...or would it be the catlic converter...the car still runs... but when it doesn't hold in gear i have to do a neutral start...greatfull for any help..

ps how do i reset the ecu (if i have to) or is there another problem after replacing the ingnitor

    1992 accord ex...i have recently changed the fule filter...and also due to all the local fires many people oxy sensors have been going bad so should i replace that aswell

    What year is the car, is this a cat you are talking about? if so either the cat is starting to plug or the fuel pressure is low due to a filter or failing fuel pump.

    The o2 sensor will not cause the systom you describe, fix the cause, rest the PCM by diconnecting the battery or clear with san tool, and recheck for codes, how about the MAF sensor? try spraying carb cleaner in the sensor eng off that will clean off the heated wire that is in the intake air stream, it measures the air flow by how much it is cooled down by the air flow throught he eng.

tachos get their signal from the coil or the ignition control module or ECM
check for ;loose / broken wires in the harness or at connections
There will be no fault codes for tachs unless it affects an adjacent sensor
could be a faulty tacho unit (tacho--tachometer--rev gauge --rpm indicator )

When the gas is applied the car will stall and the rpm gauge will go up and down


Check the air inlet tube for cracks. Duct tape will work in a pinch.

Crank but does not start (Error code P0642)


p0642 = sensor reference voltage a circuit low voltage
p0300 = means random misfire
check firing order connections and must be in place.
check also cables especially the high tension cable and coils for required resistance.
primary = 1.0 to 0.5 ohms
secondary = 900 to 11,000 ohms (as requires per model)

I have a 02 dodge grand caravan sport with 0351,0352,0700 codes...car runs good then shakes and even stalls at times,but not all the time...i have replaced ignition coil,wires,plugs,and catalytic...


po700 code just means you have codes
P0351-IGNITION COIL #1 PRIMARY CIRCUIT

WHEN MONITORED
With battery voltage greater than 8 volts during engine cranking or greater than 13 volts with engine running. Engine RPM less than 3000. No coil in dwell during test.

SET CONDITION
Peak current is not achieved with battery based dwell plus 1.5 msec of diagnostic offset. It takes less than 3 seconds during cranking or up to 6 seconds while running to set.

POSSIBLE CAUSES
- Ignition coil
- Intermittent condition
- ASD relay output circuit
- Ignition coil driver circuit open
- Ignition coil driver circuit shorted to ground
- PCM

P0352-IGNITION COIL #2 PRIMARY CIRCUIT

TEST NOTE
This symptom is diagnosed using the test P0351-IGNITION COIL #1 PRIMARY CIRCUIT.

WHEN MONITORED

you might want to look at your O2 sensors, they can cause the motor to run lean or rich. also you might have an electrical issue that is tripping your ECM. your electronic control module might be faulty. best solution is to get a trouble code reader and find out what your on board computer has stored. from there you can repair and clear the codes.

I can start my car and all my gages work fine. speedometer,RPM,s ,Fuel, and temp. I can turn on my lights or heater and the gages start jumping all over. The indicator lights and shift indicator lights...


This problem drove me crazy for 2 weeks. Then the car just stopped running. It would turn over but it would not fire. I replaced the crank and camshaft sensors. That did nothing. I replaced the ignition switch and the car started right up. So if your dash indicator lights start doing a light show for you and your gages jump around or just stop working. Try replacing the ignition switch.

The problem you describe has NUMEROUS causes. Most common of these is a COIL is going bad. The RPM gauge gets its signal from the ignition coil/crank sensor circuit (could be either one OR could be the wiring between the engine control module (ECM) and the engine components. Does the Check Engine light come ON when this happens? Whenever the "Check Engine" light comes on, there is always a DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) stored in the ECM (Engine Control Module). You'll need an OBDII (On-Board-Diagnostics) scanner to retrieve any codes recorded/set in ECM. Once you do this and let us know what, if any codes are set, then we can go from there.
