There's 4 bolts that hold it down, 2 in the front and 2 in the rear, and then there's 4 aligning pins that fit into holes. Wrench size is 13 mm I believe. The pins have a head on the bottom sort of like a nail, so you have to align the pins/heads just right, and the seat lifts right out. The head on the pin is about 3/4 inch. You have to disconnect the seat heater wire too, and if you have power seats you have to disconnect those wires also. I think on the power seats you take off the assembly on the side of the seat separately.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

As you are facing the car, it is on your right hand side - low on the engine - toward the rear of the car. To remove, 1) remove the positive battery cable 2) jack the drivers side front of the car up 3) from above or below, remove all electrical connectors
Chilton or Haines publishes manuals for the 740. Of the two, the Haines offers more direct parts removal and replacement info. The Chilton has too much generic filler. Get either on Ebay for less than $20.
Go to an auto supply store like PEP boys or Advance Auto, etc., and buy a Haynes Repair Manual for the 740. You may be able to consult one at your local library for free. Even if it doesn't cover your model year, the replacement instructions are pretty much the same for all years. in fact even a 240 Volvo manual would be essentially the same. Pay particular attention to the installation instructions....you have to slide the pump on, and then rotate it a few degrees clockwise to make the upper o-ring seal. Good luck!
To avoid confusion, remove and tag the spark plug wires one at a time, for replacement. If a distributor is not keyed for installation with only
one orientation, it could have been removed previously and rewired. The
resultant wiring would hold the correct firing order, but could change
the relative placement of the plug towers in relation to the engine.
For this reason it is imperative that you label all wires before
disconnecting any of them. Also, before removal, compare the current
wiring with the accompanying illustrations. If the current wiring does
not match, make notes in your book to reflect how your engine is wired.
4.5L and 4.9L EnginesEngine Firing Order: 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 Distributor Rotation: Counterclockwise
Hope helped with this (remember rated this help) Good luck.
4 bolts is fairly easy remove the rear first with the seat all the way forwards and then put seat all the way back then 2 in the front remove them ..tilt the seat back and if there is any wire harness disconnect them as well ...reverse process for re-installation

Rear is tricky on the wagon, I don't know about the sedan, but I bet it isn't difficult. Very few things on these cars are.
