While driving engine shuts off

While driving downtown in a large city my 2003 Yukon XL all of the sudden just stops running. I put it in park and turned the ignition it doesn't start, but try it again and it does. After attending my event I was on the way home and about 75 miles down the road it does it again. The engine just stops, I pull over and restart it and it runs fine. The check engine light has been on for awhile and we have taken it to our local mechanic and he hooks it up to his computer and there is an evap sensor that comes up but it doesn't come up with an error. He replaced the fuel filter and cleaned something in the engine and it ran well for about 3 weeks at which time it happened again. This time the engine stayed running, but when I tried to give it gas it wouldn't accelerate. I tried pumping the gas, putting into neutral and pumping the gas, so I pulled over to the side of the road and put it in park and tried pumping the gas and nothing. Turned it off, restarted it, the 2nd time it refired and I drove home. Took to our mechanic and he said he didn't know the cause, but reset the sensor. Any thoughts?

We did have the injectors cleaned and recleaned, but it did happen again. And then we needed to replace the battery because other things were happening battery orientated and it hasn't happen since, however, it had been happening in the summer when it was warm or hot out and were replaced it this fall. So, I thought it might be in the cooling system. But hopefully you're right about it being the battery.

I had the same issue with another GM and never got it resolved except by replacing the battery.
Finally put it one that keeps good voltage while park or running.
Wall mart sells a $20 alternator and battery checking device you plug into a power socket.
Its digital read out is better for my eyes than the dash board one and has idiot color codes red yellow and green,

Some batteries seem to get shorted cells and that lower voltage can lead to engine shutdown even while driving. You would think a good alternator would keep the engine running but these new low rpm designs with heavy load...

This is all experience and I do not claim to be a GM tech.

03 GMC Yukon transmission clunk at idle

2005 Yukon XL 1500 2wd 252,000 miles
It developed a noise like a can full of rocks slowly rolling
It only did it in neutral or park with engine running.
Putting in gear would stop it.
Turned out to be a loose filter element in the transmission.
At least that's what I was told by my mechanic.
Solved the noise though

No power to yukon xl compressor

Could have lost freon charge, or a faulty pressure switch or other electrical problem.
A mechanic would check for system charge and power at the compressor clutch.

Our 2003 gmc yukon xl will completely stop running after driving it for an hour or so. after letting it rest for a few minutes, it will start and run again for awhile then stop again. the longer it rests...

With numerous shop visits,I don't like
to even suggest anything --BUT --

I would be almost certain, that the fuel pump
is worn & binding up & the shops, as strange &
sad as it sounds,do not know how to test it

I have a 2003 yukon Problem with the GMC Yukon XL

What size engine ? 4.3 L vortex P0300 random misfire code is usually associated with vacuum leaks , but could also be low fuel pressure , plugged fuel filter , fuel pump problem , clogged injectors etc... doing fuel pressure an flow testing would confirm or eliminate that as a problem . Fuel injector balance testing would confirm or eliminate clogged injectors .

I have a 2003 gmc yukon 5.3 the engine idles rough sometimes the idle will get so low the engine will shut off.(the engine runs good while driving) hooked to scaner po101 maf/vaf (dont know what vaf is),...

you have a vacume leak somewhere.check all of your vacume hoses for leaks.Injector seals can cause this too. Also intake gaskets could be leaking.Running to lean usually means the car is getting to much air coming in.To check leaks spray brake cleaner around the hoses and the bottom of your intake if the rpms change then you found a leak.

Engine light is on and will not accelerate pass 35 mph. Car makes a clucking sound

You need to stop driving it and have a repair shoppe look at it. Sounds like the engine might have blown. If it is it won't run much longer. good luck
