I am having the same problem that these folks have described. My 2007 Buick Rendevous will sound like it is going to crank and then it doesn't. It will take about 10 or 12 time doing this and then I will have to gun the gas to get it to crank. Any suggestions?

pin 16 on DLC OBD2 is 12vdc. and uses a fuse. for sure.
the SM covers that.

there may be 2 AUX CIG FUSE,for rear of car options, GM used the front or rear AUX fuse for DLC 16. power, center console box look too.

Brake switch is above brake pedal. What you're describing is usually caused by a bad ground. Get a wiring diagram and clean all ground for lights.

How long since a tune-up? Any applicable trouble codes? Is fuel your only problem? Engine cranking, you have spark at the plugs and fuel injector pulse? Your security system isn't an issue?
If the only problem is fuel, use a gage and check proper fuel pressure.

It also sounds like you may have a shorted cell in your battery. Have it checked under load. Walmart does it for free.

really hard to find. it is the size of a tube of lipstick and most of it is inside the crank housing. get the new part so you know what you are looking for -- and remove the left front wheel and go in from the side. you'll see the 2 wires sticking out of the housing.

Does it have manual controls, or is it an electronic /digital controller

check fuse 31 in console fuse panel, if ok ignition lock solonoid in colume probably bad.

That is a lot going on with a vehicle that ne, do you have any warranty left on it ?
Where is the oil going ? does it leak ect.
The ticking is probably a lifter.
Take it to a reliable auto center before it is too late.

is the key on the run position(the dash lights should light up) with the motor off?

It could be anything. Please describe "doesn't start", do you get power to you dash/headlights, etc? Does the starter wind up, and make a high whining sound. Does it crank very slowly, and die. Does it crank normally, but the engine refuses to fire?
