Question about 1996 Chevrolet Camaro

Ignition trouble Hello I have problem with my camaro. It has a 3800 V6 engine with a 5 speed standard. It will start and idle smooth and cruise smooth but any time you try to accelerate under load it will stumble and act like it's got a dead plug. Then as soon as you back off it will smooth right out like nothing happened. I have replaced all the plugs and wires more than once as well as the coils individually and as a complete unit and it's not the cat. I have had it scanned more than once and get different answers each time as to what's wrong.I have changed the EGR valve for another used one.I have put a new TPS in and a new fuel filter. It has a new air filter. The security light stays on all the time. I did have to get a new key/tumbler assembly a year ago and the light went out for a while but it has been back on for 6 months or so now.I hope you can help ppoint me in the right direction. I am very mechanically inclined but these computerized hunks of junk are hard to figure out not having any proper test equipment. Thanks By the way my e-mail is

Map sensor need to be replaced at or over 60,000 miles look at all black vacuum hoses ,cracking has happed to mine. But the map is more likely to be the prob.when it gets old or dirty it can't see how much air is going in and it will lean out the fuel mix till it stalls. It is the little black square with 3 wires on it black/wht ,pink and yellow. It is located after the big round black rubber 4 inch boot going in the air intake .

I have a problem with my 1999 Chevy Camaro with L36 engine, 3.8L V6. When I start the car everything runs smooth and quiet as it's supposed to. After about 10 to 15 miles or about 20-30min of driving the...

Step 1: Clear check engine light and delete all codes. This provides us with accurate information next time the ECM sends trouble codes.

Do all tests when car is acting up. Check fuel pressure. Check for spark, looking for strength also. Disconnect Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor and if sensor is good, you should notice a change. If there is no change, that can indicate a bad MAF.

2011 v6 camaro engine suddenly missing.

I think you got hold of a batch of stale gasoline, have seen it many times. This happens this time of year because they are using up all the winter blend gas so they can switch to the summer blend..

Cruise control no working on 2001 f-150 4 x 4 5.4

Did you have the recall done ?
recall 05S28. Description: Speed Control Deactivation Switch.

Try the self test for the Cruise Control :

With the key off depress and hold the cruise control off button while turning the ignition to the run position, don't start the truck, the cruise light will flash once to let you know it is in self test.
Five additional flashes indicate a bad cruise control servo

Release the cruise off switch and within 5 seconds depress the other switches in sequence:
1. on
2. resume
3. coast
4. set/ accel
The speed control light will flash as each switch is depressed.

If the last one does not flash it may then flash a code

After this the cruise will move the throttle to test the actuator and the cable.
Make sure the throttle returns to idle and turn the key off.

Self-Test Diagnostics

This test is a key on engine off (KOEO) test only that is conducted in park only with emergency brake fully engaged.

1. Enter self-test diagnostics by depressing the speed control OFF switch while turning the ignition key ON, making sure the engine does not start and is not running. The speed control indicator on the instrument panel will flash once to indicate that speed control module entered the diagnostic mode. Five additional flashes at this point indicate a defective speed control servo. Release the OFF switch.

2. Press the remaining switches in this sequence: ON, RESUME, COAST and SET/ACCEL.

If the ON switch is not depressed within five seconds after entering the diagnostics mode, the module times out and the procedure must be started over.

The speed control indicator lamp will flash as each switch is depressed. Press each switch in the sequence immediately after the indicator light goes out for the previous switch.

There will be a slight delay when the last button is pressed and the lamp flashes.

3. A lamp flash with the last button (SET/ACCEL) indicates that the static test passed. If the lamp does not flash with the last button and there are no additional flashes of the lamp, the switch is defective.

If the lamp does not flash with the last button, and additional flashes occur, follow the chart below for trouble codes:

- 2 flashes - BPP defective, circuit is defective, brake applied, CPP switch or jumper (if equipped).

- 3 flashes - deactivator switch is open or circuit defective.

- 4 flashes - vehicle speed signal is out of range or circuit is defective

4. Immediately (.25 second delay) after the static test, the speed control servo does a dynamic test by automatically actuating the throttle lever from 8 mm (0.315 in) to 12 mm (0.472 in) of travel from the idle position. During the dynamic throttle pull, observe throttle movement to witness any binding or sticking of the speed control cable and correct connection of speed control cable to throttle lever. Make sure the throttle returns to the idle position.

5. Return the ignition switch to the OFF position and proceed to the Symptom Chart.

94 Z28 runs rough until I cruise on the highway a few miles at a steady rpm and then the service engine light comes on and then it smooths out until I slow down to get off the highway..why?

1. Vacuum leaks
2. Leaking egr or plugged pcv.
3 Air filter clogged
4.leaking head gasket
5. Timing chain worn, or jumped a cog.
6. Camshaft worn.
7. Valves burnt or leaking.
8. ignition system
9. injectors clogged
10. Idle control system

You'll just have to keep eliminating them, from cheapest to most expensive.
