Question about 2001 Ford Focus
It has been getting worse, but very gradual. Could this be my engine mounts? Do I need to tighten something I don't know about? 2001 Fod Focus ZX3 100,000 miles.
The problem is the engine mount. The care has 3: Engine, engine/transmission and lower transmission. The engine mount is on the passenger side of the engien and you can see it between the fender well and engine. It is a fluid mount. When the get old, the fluid goes out. You can see this when you remove the black plastic cover by just pulling it off. this exposes the fluid bladder. Push on it. If it is hard, the fluid is gone and it wont isolate the engine vibration. If it is soft and bulging up, then it is ok.

Turn the car on and open the hood. Do you hear a hiss? If you do the vacuum tube has a hole in it. The vacuum tube is connected to the top of the engine block (more to the middle) and goes towards the cabin.
Run your hand over this when the engine is running (be careful, since the engine is running). You should feel a suction somewhere along the length of the hose (typically it is in the 90 degree turns at the ends of the hose). If you do, this is your problem. Replace the hose/PVC ends and it will fix your issue.
