The fuel filter is part of the fuel pump assembly located in the tank.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2. Relieve the fuel system pressure.
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4. Remove the two fitting nuts while holding the filter.
  5. Remove the filter mounting bolts and the filter from the clamp.
  6. Installation is the reverse of removal. Tighten the fitting nuts to 22-29 ft. lbs. (30-40 Nm).
  7. Connect the negative battery cable.
  8. Start the engine and check for leaks.

Hey Justin, your fuel filter is a NON-SERVICEABLE filter.. there is nothing you can do. Changing the fuel pump(it has a filter on it)

Remove the back seat,,there should be a "trap door" in there-in the top of the gas tank... disconnect the battery first, then remove the fuel pump..

Changed fuel filter and relay, ran for 20 seconds and wont run now?

How bad was the fuel filter? I change mine about every 1 1/2 to 2 years. When I recommend a tune up, I include air and fuel filters, with an oil change if the oil is dirty. Thin with fuel filters, no one ever changes them. Clogged fuel filters puts wear and tear on fuel pumps. The pump works harder to get the fuel though. Seen to many times when replacing the fuel filter, the pump died, or shortly after. First thing to do is check fuel pressure. At key on and running. No year make or model. Would need that info also.

How do I change the fuel filter on a 2006 2.4lt Chrysler PTCruiser. Do I need to remove the tank? Do I need to drain the tank? Finally how often do I need to change the Fuel Filter

your cars fuel filter is inside your fuel tank along with the fuel pump....you need to remove the back seat to give way in removing the top cover of the fuel tank that holds the fuel pump and filter...no need to drain the tank with its fuel...fuel filter replacement interval is every 20,000 km. or 12500 miles.

Fuel filter

There is no need to change it frequently. If there is a loss of engine power or if throttle cuts out then may be its the time to change fuel filter. It is recommended by peugeot to change fuel filter (but depends on fuel purity) after every 36000 miles.

You can clean it yourself
Dipp the whole filter body in carosine oil tank and leave it in there for about 20-30 minutes
Pour some petrol in filter with the help of plastic piped and apply a slight air pressure (use a piece of pipe to blow) in the reverse direction (marked with arrows) of fuel supply to clear residue and heavy oil composite that clogged in filter.
Repeating the cleaning process 2-3 times will clean the filter to reuse it without the need of a new one to buy.

Fuel filter

the fuel filter should be located on the inside of left frame rail about middle of truck. you will need 5/8" wrench for line nuts and adjustable to hold filter. and i think 13mm to remove bracket. take off fuel cap when changing filter.
