Might be good to be the engine shown as available in this vehicle - but just for a point to initiate problems resolution for - 2.4L/3.7L/4.0L/4.7L - get an idle air replacement gasket for future use - once it is has been running or has obtained some warm up temp - disconnect your idle air control valve wiring - see what effect it has on the motor -this will effect cold engine air bypass and air/fuel enrichment for the cold engine - if it is not opening and closing properly it will not start or run/idle properly - it can/will also cause you check engine light or codes - Also in this system is an ambient air temperature sensor - telling the computer the air/motor is cold and needs to enrich-en the fuel mixture as an old fashioned choke would do - I have no idea of the condition of the overall tune up on the engine so other items may also influence or prevail - such as dirty throttle body and fuel pressure regulator / filter or egr system issues - tough to do without specs. details - codes or vehicle history This is a US based gasoline jeep ? if diesel look at glow plugs or glow plug relay
SOURCE: 93 Grand Cherokee 4.0 trouble starting in cold weather
Welcome to the forum. Your question has to many variables. Cold weather out here in Cen Cal this time of year is mid 40s. Is the problem when the vehicle is cold as in ovrernight but starts ok when it is warm? Does it crank OK but seem like it's not getting fuel? If you hold the throttle slightly open, does it start OK?

get a couple bottles of gas line antifreeze .. if you don't already use it and add it to the gas.

SOURCE: 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee alarm keeps randomly going off.
this happened to me recently with my 96 grand cherokee. the battery got drained by the alarm going off randomly at night. i pulled the fuse for the horn so at least my neighbors would only be bothered by flashing lights. then i couldn't jump the car because the alarm was still going off. i hooked my car to jump it to another car, and then i had to deactivate the alarm first by putting my key in the driver side door and unlocking the car. then i left it hooked to another car and still getting power but didn't jump it for at least 5 minutes in case the computer needed to reset. then it jumped fine. from what i've read online, this is a common problem that can be avoided if you stop using the power locks and always manually lock and unlock the doors with your key. its a little annoying, but apparently the power locks are connected to the alarm issue. hope the same works for you.
SOURCE: Jeep Cherokee starting issue
On an intermittent start problem like this you may be having a starter solenoid issue or your wire on the starter from the key switch may be loose. Or you may have a corroded battery cable or the safety neutral switch may be going bad. Is it a automatic? If it were it would be the clutch safety switch going out. So do the simple things first. Clean cables like the first guy said if that does not fix it locate the starter and if you have jumper cables the next time it does it put the positive lead of the jumper cable on the Positive battery terminal and the other touch to the starter wire with the key in the run position where the big wire on the starter is, if you here it spin it means the starter motor is ok if it don't it is bad or the connection on the starter is loose. Also a bad battery cable could cause this from the battery to the starter next put a small wire into the end of the positive jumper cable and touch the S terminal on the starter if you here a solid clung it means the solenoid is good. So check the connections on the starter and tighten the starter bolts as they may have worked loose and don't have a good ground. So if you want more as stance just post on my question and I will hell p more and if this is more informative please rate

p0340 is the cam shaft sensor, this will cause it to cut off while driving, hardtime starting, p0351 is the ignition coil A primary/secondary curcuit mal function. p1391 is ignition system misfire, this could be plugs, wires, or coils. first of all have the cam sensor changed and it may correct the rest of the codes. when fixed turn light off with obd2 scanner. if you do not have one, then any auto parts store will erase the codes fo free of charge.
