Question about 2000 Ford Expedition

Misfiring I have a 2000 ford expedition V8 5.4L engine. It started misting bad so i had the plups changed. It was still misting i had a diagnostic ran,it came back #3 coil pack. It is still misting i had it read again now they are sayin it is the oxygen sensor before the converter. It runs real rugged when driving it,even worse when going up hill. It losses some power when the ac is on. Can a oxygen sensor cause that much problem or could it be something else. I am putting the sensor on today.

I have a 2001 Ford Expedition 5.4 L engine with 100k miles on it. About 6 months ago it started rough running and loosing power. I was on the road Sears was the only available shop. Replaced the plugs, clean the fuel lines and repaced the fuel filter. The problem still presist? Ater a mechanic pluged into the coputer socket with a "Snap-on 50 Lug Scanner" it shows the codes PO306 and PO307 misfireing cylinders #6&7 respectively. Sugjested to replace the faulty coils? I have not done this yet.

An O2 sensor will not cause a miss, period. I would think the problem may lie with the #3 coil, or the wiring to it. What are the trouble code(s), give me those and I can be more helpful

Have you ever thought about the Catalitic converters or the Pre Cats being partialy plugged? I replaced the coil Packs and it runs better but I think the Cats are plugged/precats too

What would cause a misfire of #1 cylinder on 2000 ford expedition 5.4 liter engine?

these have a problem with coil packs and ignition wires. check the plug it may need replacing, but change all the plugs not just the one. you could have a dirty or a bad injector for that cylinder or even a vacuum leak at the intake for that cylinder. something else is you could have poor compression on that cylinder.

I have a 2001 ford expodition that starts up but when you give it gas it stalls out.what all could be my problem

hello, if the check engine light is on, i would start there with a diagnostic scan to determine why it is on. The fuel pressure needs to be checked to see if it's within specs, along with the fuel pressure regulator. The TPS (throttle position sensor) will cause it to stall. Check for vacuum leaks. Check for a stuck EGR valve. These are the most common and the best place to start. Good luck, i hope this helps.

I have a 2000 expedition with a misfire prob. had it checked with a scanner and it said #3 cyl was misfiring. i changed coil pack once and it was good for about ten min and started again. i changed it a...

All you need to do, is buy one new coil,
one time at auto parts store $60.00 once

One bolt, you can install the COP Coil in
less then 30 min

You disregard the PO303 Code and walk
the new coil until you find the bad one.

You can do one or two cylinders a day, driving
at least 25 miles and getting it hot in between

Codes don't always match up to the problem cyl

When it isn't corrected put the old coil back where
it was, move the new one to the next cyl

2000 expedition 5.4 lt run fine when cold when warm misses bad anyone know whats wrong??

a very common problem for the 5.4 fords is the coil packs going bad. normally misfires once heated up and under slight load ( in overdrive going up a grade) if the check engine light is on, it can help pinpoint which cylinder is misfiring. if plugs haven't been replaced within last 50-60k miles, plan on replacing plugs, and usually the coil pack that goes bad is one of the rear ones, but impossible to tell without a scan tool. if you don't own one, take it to a shop

I have a 2000 ford expedition w/ 4.6 l, engine will start but will not idle.I have to press on gas pedal to keep engine from dying also seems to be surging at 500 rpm.there is no misfire and runs smoothely...

The TPS sensor (or Throttle Position Sensor) is bad locate it and replace, it is located where the rubber air intake hose meets the intake manual, look for a wireand plug, also to make sure it is this sensor bring the truck to an Auto Zone and have them read any stored trouble codes for free this should confirm the faulty TPS.

Missfire 2000 expidition

there isn't a trouble code that indicates a bad coil... there are misfire codes that can possibly lead to a plug, coil, fuel injector, low compression, or a number of other things. it is possible to have 2 more bad coils-if youve had the engine compartment detailed and they got them wet, that'll do it. other than that it is hard to see 2 coils going at 1 time. spark plugs themselves are more likely.

Ford Expedition 2000

Good Day Tony,

That's an intersting problem.... I would assume that if it was misfiring in a cylinder it would trip your check engine light as it did before. Because it only happens when you are going 50 it might be something else. What happens when you put the truck in park or nuetral and rev up the engine? Rev it up slowly and see if jerks or hesitates at any particular rpm range, I'm just trying to rule out if it's a possible transmission problem or engine problem. Let me know and I can assist further.

Good Luck
