The contacts in the starter motor solenoid are worn, the clicking that you can hear is the solenoid being pulled in, but not making contact to allow the main battery voltage/current from getting to the starter motor. Their are 2 things you can do to get you out of trouble.

Rock the car back and forward whilst in gear, stop and try again.

Tap the side of the starter motor cover with a piece of wood or soft hammer. This will wiggle the contacts and allow for starting.

These may get the car up and running, but ultimately the contacts will have to be replace.

If you can find the starter motor, the solenoid is the small round or triangle box on top or to the side f the starter motor, usually with two small wires going to it.

Car wont start battery good when I turn the key no noise

Sounds a lot like a bad starter. Is not common for the switch to go bad

2006 Ford taurus won't start, starter, altlernator, battery replaced, ignition starter switch, neutral safely switch changed, still nothing

I looked at info for your security system, it is starter motor disable. I didn't see 06 ford Taurus in my database, so I looked at 05.
Battery has a full charge and battery connections all good?
We can usually do some tests to see if starter motor will crank the engine, but, if the security is the problem, it still won't start.
You can check for applicable trouble codes? Try a different key?

2006 Tiburon will not start. When you turn the key sounds like a little clicking noise that is coming from the main fuse seems to be shaking/clicking. Lights work so it is not the battery. What could...

It could be the battery even though the lights are on because the battery might have enough charge to turn on lights but not enough power to actually start the engine so you might want to jump start it with another car just to rule that out.

But if its not the problem it might be the Crankshaft Position Sensor.
It happened to me once where it failed on me and my car would turn over but didn't seem to want to start.
Heres a picture of the location of the sensor:

Goodluck.

My Ford five hundred won...t turn over (crank)...the lights are on and when I turn the key I hear a ticking sound but it wont crank...what problem might I have

All indicates to a flat battery. If the lights work or the horn blows, that is no indication that the battery is still good. You need to use a hydrometer to test the electrolyte SG to check if the battery is at full charge.

Wont start funny clicking sound when i turn the key ???

Hi!!

The clicking you are hearing, is the sound of a weak battery, Jump start the vehicle and take it to an AutoZone for a Charging System check.

Good Luck!!

My 1996 Audi A6 Quattro wont start. It won't even turn over. It makes a couple of clicking noises but nothing. What could this be?

either a dead battery or bad wire connections from battery to starter first check and clean battery connections if still not starting try jumping battery if it still click than you have bad connection at starter

It sounds very much like your battery is discharged, and does not have enough charge left to turn your engine over (the clicking noise is your solenoid trying to engage the starter, but it is not getting enough power to do so). The fact that your various little lights work does not indicate that you have nearly enough of a charge in the battery to start the car.

I think that if you have your battery charged (or replaced, if necessary), that will solve your problem. You might take the battery to Autozone or a place like it and have them check it for taking a charge (I don't think that charge for that).

Hope this helps you.

No electrical. Car worked fine yesterday. Turn key, and nothing.

Either there is a bad connection on the battery (MUST BE METAL TO METAL CONTACT)
Or you could have a bad ignition module. Most likey cause is battery or connections

Turn key and wont start 05 2500 silverado

This sounds like a weak battery or corrosion on the battery cable connections. The sound you hear is the relay and not the cylinoid.

98 jeepwrangler won't start

This is basic, but first off, try to shift it into neutral, and try to start it. It is easy for the linkage to get out of adjustment, where it thinks the jeep is in gear. If that does not work, make sure you have battery power to the ignition and starter.
