Check your fuses for your interior light. You might have blown that fuse installing the after market radio.

I have a 2005 pontiac grand prix. I just bought an after market radio. I don't know the what the wires do in the stock wiring harness. i can't figure out which color wire did what function

Well you can start by checking the wires behind the speakers. There are almost certainly 8 of those. Then there is a power wire which ought to be red and a heavier gauge, plus a ground, which should be black.

Or you can just refer to this wiring diagram :>)

2004 Pontiac Grand Am SE dash back lights quit working I installed an aftermarket radio. Wiring OK no blown fuses.Every thing else works fine plugged factory radio back in lights still did not work.

check that dimmer is turned up ---and check connections around where radio work was done for damaged disconnected line connector also check dash fuses not just fuses from radio --or your radio may not be compatible to your dimmer circuit -most oem radios display are Incorporated with dash functions and after market ones are not

is it a factory radio ? if so its either got a amp in the dash or the radio itself i probably junk most car manufactures use cheap radios ive never cared for factory stereos . i would suggest getting a new radio after market of course cd player or whatever your prefence and install it yourself shouldnt cost you anymore than 60 dollars an 1 hour of your time

2005 grand prix HUD display not working

does it have an after market radio in it? If so there is an add on box that had to be added for all those things to function properly. It could be going out. If its the stock radio it is built in I would check to make sure that none of the plugs to the radio are all plugged in and tight

Rear-window defogger wont work and radio cuts off when u put on

Sounds like a dead short. Disconnect the power to the radio and try the rear defog. Then to determine if it is the radio or the hater, disconnect the heater and put power to the radio. Another simple test is to, at night have the head lights on, turn the radio on see how much the lights dim. Then with the radio off, turn the rear defog on. Then try both. IF either one makes the head lights dim and not recover after a minute or so that devise is the shorted component. Check grounds on the radio and the heater.

Signal indicator brake lights and fm radio

You may have an intermittent switch or possibly a shorted or broken wire. As for the radio, I'd yank it and put an after market deck in. GM radios aren't known for their quality. But, you could check the back of the radio to see if the antenna lead is plugged in securely.
Hope this helps.
