I also have problems with my 2000 windstar. I have a 100,000 mile warranty but although it was the best (bumper to bumper plus electric) well it only covers little things. Now my power seat fuse has blown, it stays stuck in one position. We can't find where the fuse layout, if anyone has any idea, I would love to hear it. Our AC also only works when it feels like it, our speedometer is also working only when feels like it also has no heat in the front and makes a clicking sound if it is at the cool side, the heat does work fine in the rear. Help!!!!

The problem is simple and you could possibly repair it yourself. the sensor on the brake master cylinder (front side protruding down from the bottom) is shorted out. This sensor turns off the cruise control when the brakes are pushed. You only have to unscrew the old sensor and replace it with the new one. You will notice that the old sensor has has brake fluid all through out it. this is the reason for the short. BTW you will lose a little brake fluid in the process so have the new sensor ready when you take off the old sensor. I know this doesnt sound like it could possibly be the reason but it is. hope it helps

No A/C, no odometer, no speedometer, ABS light...blown 10 amp fus

I had this same problem a few years ago. Got to the point that the dealer just gave me a box of fuses to replace when it blew. They could not find the source nor could they replicate the situation in house. The 99 Windstar had a recall somewhere in the breaking system-- and leaks could cause a short in the electrical system. Once that repair was made, I never had the problem again. I like to think my constant complaining (car was still under warranty at the time) allowed corporate to make the connection. Look for the recall code.

ABS, A/c clutch, speedometer, odometer quit at the same time

Its your ABS system. There is a faulty switch/sensor on the master cylinder. It leaks brake fluid into the wires connected to it and causes the circuit to short, resulting in a blown fuse that controls the AC, odometer, speedometer, cruise control and ABS light to stay on. This can even cause a fire in the vehicle. A fire can occur even when the vehicle is turned off. To correct the problem go to this link -

Fuse keeps blowing

Greetings..hopefully we can help or at least isolate the issue. You need to know that there was a few recalls with the cruise control system which is involved.. speedo and odometer is possibly in that circuit..but I am sure the ac had a separate fuse and relay...I do not have a book or schematics here. ,,I would disconect the wires to the ac compressor taking that out of the cause... I would also disconnect the cruise control wire to the unit and drive aroud for a day or so to see what happens. This is whats known as isolate and test . It may take some time but it will give you answers to what is the cause and then check that system out with us. At least you will have it narrowed not forget at when it happens and what type of roadway ( bumpy, soft, wet, snow) as it all plays a part in diagnostics. I hope this helped.

you can go to the ford fleet website and download a owners manual.
pages 183-189 talk about fuses and tell you what they are and the correct fuse amp to use.
I too had some of the problems you are experiencing. my speedometer and odometer quit working and the abs light came on and aldo my cruise control quit.
I replaced the fuse and that fixed everything at once.
I hope this helps.
here is the website just enter the information and you are there.

fuse #10 in the fuse box inside the van under the dash this fuse will be blown HOWEVER the reason the fuse is blown is your real problem
the most likely cause is the reduntant bps on the master cylinder just unplug it and the fuse should stop blowing.
you can replace it if you want.
be very carefull of leaking brakefluid on harness below this sensor if brakefluid has leaked into harness and is not attended too it can cause major problems.

Fuse keeps blowing out. Odometer and speedometer don't work and cold ac quits. I've replaced the fuse many times and it keeps blowing out. Unhooked the ac compressor wiring and tried again, blown again....

I had the same problem with my 2000 Windstar. It ended up being a brake fluid leak around a sensor on the master cylinder. The sensor is a known issue and has been redesigned. The brake fluid dripped onto some elctrical connections causing fuses to blow. The sensor turns off the cruise control when the brakes are pressed. On some vehicles it was known to cause fires and Ford had to provide a recall. At the time my Windstar was not covered in the recall but it may be now.
