Question about 2007 Dodge Dakota Cab SLT

1 Answer

Gas Guzzler I have a 2007 Dodge Dakota 4x4 301 v6, I have had it for a year and it has 29,000 miles on it and I am putting gas in every two days. It's getting 6 miles to the gallon right now and has been ever since I owned it, I've taken it in several times to the dealership and they say there's nothing wrong. When I merge onto the freeway My transmission will not kick into gear and the RMS's shoot up like crazy. What solution is there to this problem? The gas alone is eating me alive. The tranny only has a few thousand miles left on the warranty.

Dude, I bought a 2007 dakota 2wd v6 automatic with 11,000 miles and having similar problems as well. It happens every few days or so. I was merging onto the highway and get to 40 to 45mph cruising speed and my rpms are around 5000 to 5500 rpms and doesn't seem to go down. The engine did'nt sound like it running hard, but rpms were still high. I'm finding out your and others are having very similar problems. I will take it in to dealer for service on Monday. Do you know yet what the issue is and if so please inform me so I can explain it to dealer service.

I also have a Dakota, it is not a four wheel drive, it gets nine miles to the gallon, so your fuel mileage is not unusual for a much heavier 4X4. One other question, do you have over sized tires? large tires really eat up fuel, also keep them at Max PSI, keep your road speed below 65 also, over 60 MPH the miles per gallon really drop.

YOU MIGHT WANT TO ASK YOUR DEALERSHIP IF THERE IS A COMPUTER FLASH AVAILABLE; BUT IT IS TRUE THAT THE MOTOR IN YOUR TRUCK IS NOT GOOD ON GAS, ADDED IT IS A FOUR WHEEL DRIVE. IT DOES SOUND LIKE YOU HAVE A LEGITIMATE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM.

1994 Dodge Dakota 3.9 V6 dies occasionally, does not shift to OD occasionally (automatic), frequently stumbles while driving. It sat for several years without driving. I have been driving it for three

Replace the gas filter!

That could even explain the failure to shift into Overdrive, as the engine cannot be running lean for the computer to allow it to shift into Overdrive.

Easy $10 fixya.
