2005 Subaru forrester 2.5 pinging

I have purchased a 2005 Subaru Forrester 2.5 Manual which has done 50,000 kilometres, if I use ordinary ULP it really pings, so I tried the PULP petrol the pinging is still quite severe.
I have been driving for the past 50 years heavy haulage, chauffer and hold safe driving awards, I don't think it's my driving as others driving my car have the same problem, I had the 50,000 service done and it is still the same.

How can I solve this problem please.

You can try getting the top end clean which includes cleaning the throttle body and chemicaly cleaning the carbon from the back of the valves and the intake runners. You could also try changing the Knock Sensor.

Turn off the parking light over ride switch. it is the switch on the top of the steering collumn. I worked for a Subaru dealer for years and have seen this sooooo many times. Honest mistake. Good luck. Scott

Generally, Bank 1 is front and Bank 2 is rear.

Hi ;) i have a 2005 subaru forrester 2.5 xs... Can you tell me what "fram" oil filter I should buy for replacement? and also I'm at 75000 miles now and the original oil I've been getting is 5-30...

No ... once you start the synthetic you should stay with it ... continue to use the recommended weight. 75000 is really no miles ... This engine should go for 175 to 200,000 properly cared for.

Your auto parts store that sells Fram can give you the proper filter.

For 2001 Forrester Subaru - Front Windshield Washer fuse

If it makes noise, it's not the fuse. Most likely the discharge nozzles are stopped up. Try blowing compressed air into them from the outside.

It probably is the converter. The check engine light has nothing to do with maintenance at all, nor does it really directly concern the engine. The check engine light comes on for emmission purposes. Such as converter, loose gas cap and all kinds of sensors.
