The transmission pan is usually fartherdown towards to driveshaft, and the oil pan is on the more side toward the driver side. You can jack your car up, and there is a 15mm bolt located under the oil pan, and it should say oil on it, it could get greasy and dirty and you might not be able to see the "OIL" imprinted to the oil drainage bolt.

How to train how to drain transmission fluid out of 2001 Pontiac Azte?

1. Remove transmission oil pan (be careful oil will splash all over)
2. Remove all bolts slowly, so oil will drain slowly
3. Transmission oil pan gasket is reusable
4. Clean oil pan and let transmission oil drip then reinstall pan and gasket.(At the same time you can change the transmission oil filter.
5. Fill with transmission oil fluid (see specification) 4 liters Dexron4 fluid
6. Start the engine place transmission lever to park or neutral
7. At the same time remove plug (see pictures ) until fluid comes out the transmission plug hole. (replace the plug)

if you cant get clearance under neath with motor in the engine bay
motor will have to come out

if trying with motor in the engine bay
lots of drive train in the way ..
undo engine mounts
support the motor .... even lift motor a bit
for clearance from steering gear and chassis ,suspension etc
to get the sump off

Removal procedure of oil pan for a 1997 chevy

To remove the engine oil pan either the engine has to be lifted all the way off of the motor mounts and the oil pan should just clear the flex-plate and transmission, or the front axle dropped down out of the way, or the transmission and flex-plate will have to be removed.

Usually if the engine can be lifted enough to fit a piece of 2x4 wood between the motor mounts and the frame then the oil pan will usually just have enough clearance to be removed from the rear and the oil pan should just clear the transmission and the flex-plate. Also, be sure to check that the fan blade does not damage the fan shroud when lifting the engine.

Let me know if you require any further assistance.

1999 chevy suburban 2wd 1500 v8 driving

I suspect you have had an oil pump failure. To get at the rotory gear oil pump you will have to drop the oil pan. After you take the pan off, ( having drained the oil the oil pump is what the oil pick up line leads into. That pick up assy. is a round shaped disc with a screen inside it. Clean the screen first then the oil pump. Install new oil pan gasket on reassembly. Hope that helps you. Please let me know.

Hopefully the engine was not damaged when the pump broke. If it was you may need a complete engine rebuild, MAYBE.

Looking for the Oil Plug (Draining) for a GMC 2001 1500 Silverado

the pan under the motor is the oil pan. you can see the oil filter to the left of it (driverside). The plug is in the rear of it facing the back of the truck. On my 6.0l V8 the exuast pipe is rite behind it so when you loosen it have the drip pan ready to catch the oil as it will stream out fast at a wierd angle due to its location. The pan behind it is for the transmission.
