Question about 2004 Cadillac SRX

2 Answers

Service Stability System keeps coming up on my display. It seems to do it right after starting my car and backing up or when coming to a stop sign. The other day I backed out of an area kind of quickly due to lots of traffic and my car locked up. It made a terrible grinding noize and would go forward. I shut the car off. Turned it back on and it has been fine since but the Service Stability System display still comes on.

I have the same stability problem. The dealer said they can't find the problem. The car rolls back and forth when you turn the wheel sharp at 65 MPH, you think you may roll over.

I had the same problem...but I found out that the dealer had rotated incorrectly the tires.
Front and back are different sizes and if a rotation is performent front to rear, you may get a stability light warning.

I corrected my tires and the warning went a way.

Hello HR
Dave here
This system isn't really serviceable by the home or do-it-yourself mechanic. You will likely have to take it to the dealer or mechanic with the right tools and diagnostic systems.

What does it mean when my 2008 trailblazer LT stabilitrac service light comes on?

Service Stability System Message The message center displays the service stability system message when any one of many VSES-disabling DTCs is set. The EBCM sends a serial data message to the IPC requesting this display.
It means there is a problem an till you get it fixed the stability control system is disabled ! ( EBCM ) electronic brake control module Has detected a problem an set a DTC - diagnostic trouble code in it's memory an had the message displayed !
Vehicle Stability Enhancement System (VSES)
The vehicle stability enhancement system (VSES) provides added stability during aggressive maneuvers. Yaw rate is the rate of rotation about the vehicle's vertical axis. The VSES is activated when the electronic brake control module (EBCM) determines that the desired yaw rate does not match the actual yaw rate as measured by the yaw rate sensor.
The desired yaw rate is calculated by the EBCM using, primarily, the following inputs.
?€¢
The position of the steering wheel

?€¢
The speed of the vehicle

?€¢
The lateral, or sideways acceleration of the vehicle

The difference between the desired yaw rate and the actual yaw rate is the yaw rate error, which is a measurement of oversteer or understeer. When a yaw rate error is detected, the EBCM attempts to correct the vehicle's yaw motion by applying brake pressure to one or more of the wheels. The amount of brake pressure which is applied varies, depending on the correction required. The engine torque may be reduced also, if it is necessary to slow the vehicle while maintaining stability.
VSES activations generally occur in turns during aggressive driving. When braking during VSES activation, the pedal may pulsate. The brake pedal pulsates at a higher frequency during VSES activation than during ABS activation.

Gauge Info. display reads service stability system.

To start you have to run the codes from the stability control module, and once that's done then you can beging to look for the problem, only a tech II scanner can reset this module, also make sure all tires are the same size

Hi, the dynamic stability control system is a safety feature, but the car will run fine without it. The problem is difficult to diagnose without special equipment. What I recommend is to have the system scanned the next time you visit the dealer service department. If you can send us the trouble code or results of the scan, we may be able to advise you on needed repairs to fully restore operation of your stability control system.

Service stability system

one of the four load stability sensors (one at each wheel suspention arm) has gone awry. Computer diagnostics (Advanced scan tool) will tell you which one. Suggest replace both on front or both on rear (whichever the case)
