Hi Dave, the leaver does not have any resistance and returns when I let go, I tried pulling the cable with a pair of plyers whilst a friend pushed down on the bonnet but that didnt work either.

I don't think the actual cable is broken as when I pulled on it with the pliers it only moved about in inch before it came to a stop, it is definitely secured at the other end. I forgot to mention before that it has always been a bit of a problem opening it in the past.

not much info there
when you pull the hood release do you feel the same pressure as normal or is it just free and easy with no pop of the hood?

    hello again tallen

    dave here

when you pulled on the cable with pliers which was my next suggestion by the way was there a point of resistance. or was it just loose. try 2 pair of pliers. when you get to the end grasp the cable midway and pull again a little harder. if this does not work you will likely need to get your hand up from under the car near the rad find the cable there and pull it as it may be broken somewhere midway to the latch inside the cable guide.

Safety catch on hood wont release and hood wont re latch!

I would check to see if the hood release moves when the inside lever is pulled then pushed, if not the cable and latch mechanism may need lubrication or be broken.

Hood latch

Replace the hood release cable as it is probably jammed and not allowing the hood latch to return to the correct position

Engine hood wont open hood pull handle pulls out but wont release

Try pulling on the hood release, while someone else lifts the hood. If this doesn't work. You can access the underside of the hood release by taking the front grille out. If you look closely you'll see the retainer screws that can be removed from the front. Once the grille is out or loosened enougt to get your hand in behind, you can release the hood latch from the underside with a screwdriver and then repair the hood latch after you've opened it.

Hood wont open on 1999 dodge durango

The cable to the hood is most likely broken. The hood can be opened from underneath by pulling the cable and replacement is not terribly difficult once the hood is open.

Your cable anchor that holds the cable is loose or is pivoting causing your latch not to have full stroke. Hope this fixes your problem.

1993 toyota hood release wont open hood

try getting a pair of pliers and gripping the cable on the back off the release and popping the bonnet,
if this is no good you may have to go to the dealer to get them to open the bonnet and replace the macanism
