How do you change the alternator

Replacing the alternator requires a few tools such as a set of wrenches. I suspect you don't have the skills to do it yourself although you would learn a bunch by watching it done. Probably cost about $200. Get a quote from a reputable mechanic.

Need to know how to replace altenator and how hard it is to do

if you have some basic skills and tools for mechanic, that would not be a problem to you... 1st disconnect battery terminal, 2nd remove all the wire connectors/couplers/sockets that connecting the alternator. 3rd loosen the tensioner pulley of the belt of the alternator (its a separate pulley). 4th remove all the nuts n bolts that holding the alternator... thats it... then replace with a new one... hope i help!

I need to replace the alternator in my 2000 c70 volvo but I am not sure how difficult a job this is for my less than average mechanical skills. How hard is it? Thank-you

ts not hard its on top at least. the belt tensioner uses a special tool to release but ive improvised one a few times, the labor rate on that shouldnt be that much so a shop should be considered
