2009 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Logo

My son has 2009 silverado extended cab with 22000 miles, he left his amp on and the battery went dead, so I took my 2009 silverado and tried to jump it. When I turned the key on the display lit up but once I turned the key all the way over everything went dead. So I replaced the 175 amp under the firewall by the battery and checked all the fuses by the drivers side door, but when i try to jump it, it does nothing no display, no click, nada? What else could be the problem? Is there another fuse somewhere? Thanks for any advise before I have to tow it to the dealership.

When a battery is totally dead a jump start will take time. The dead battery needs to come back up to at least 8 volts before it will start. Leave you jumper cables hooked up for a half hour or so and try again. What you really need is a battery charger, even once you get it running the alternator is going to have to run for a really long time to fully charge this battery. Also, you should be able to connect the amp to go off with the deck, it's a little more work but it is well worth the effort.

Battery went dead, Jump started but now check engine light on

First, you need to determine why the battery went dead...put a volt meter across the battery terminals and verify that it is making above 13v and less than 14v while running. Also, the alternator is designed to maintain the state of charge in a battery, it will never fully charge it. To avoid overtaxing the alternator and shortening the live of the battery, always re-charge with a battery charger after needing a jump.
(doing this about every two/three months will extend life of battery...makes up for time spent listening to radio etc with engine off)

Battery Dead soon after service engine ligt came on

it sounds like you have a poor battery and a draw on your truck put a low amp clamp around the positive battery cable with the truck off and key removed from the truck for 10mins. then if you show more than 350mamps you have an excessive draw to find what is drawing the battery down start removing fuses starting with larger fuses until the amp clamp reads below 350mamps. then you know what circuit is causing the problem. check that the under hood light is turning off. common problem. good luck.

Starts, but put it in gear, it goes dead. will idle.

1. Had mechanic check timing again. Belt off a couple degrees. Should fix problem.
2. Don't know. this is my son-in-laws car.
3. No.
4. I think valves were bent due to timing belt breaking and son-in-law trying to start car when it went dead.
5. Will do this if timing belt reset don't work.
Thanks for your reply.
