Check engine light

TCS light came on briefly then went out. Had a trans. recall for overheating
corrected at 13,000.(no problem was detected; oil cooler line installed)
Check engine light came on 55,000 miles; sense no difference in vehicles performance. Had oil changed recently, was told maybe something was not reset.

No major parts have been replaced although battery is new. V ehicle does not call for a timing belt change at this time. Nothing has been done to the vehicle other than a new air filter. I have had no engine problems at all.

I have had the computer check done. Code was accessed turns out there is a recall on

01,02,03 Odyssey and Pilots that has to do with engine hesitation. The EGR valve has to be replaced. This is a major job involving removal of the manifold. Honda has extended the warranty to 5 years or 80 ,000 miles. They are doing the job at their expense according to a copy of the letter I received that was sent to their service managers.

Thanks for your help. Beware of recalls we never receive!

HI.
The check engine light come in cars.
For Various sources of componentsand sensor In a vahicle.
Some times is simple and don't afect the engine performance.
For example Leave the fuel cap losse. Is one of the more common cause of the light come on without afect the engine performance.
But The best I can recomend IS Get a scanned with a computer diagnostic. Because you will be know exactly why the light come on with the especific code, and what to do to resolve.
I hope this work for you.

If you havent had your timing belt changed that coulod be the problem ,, the engine is scheduled for timing belt change after a certin amount of time. If you had sensors changed or major part replacement then the brain box would neet the error codes cleared or it will still think the problem exist and give a warning.

Chances are if something were wrong with the engine besides the service date nearing you wnt be driving.., BTW when the date comes closer you car will shut it self down ..

Have someone with a diagnostic tool have a look at it to make sure,, this will tell you the due service time as well as if any codes are there..

It could also be the fuel injection system needs servicing.

    something requires servicing ,,

    this may include

Oil change both engine and transmission

RESET of milage, engine or transmission

    Servicing Engine or transnission

it it could simply be the thernostat ( engine heat sensor) or mass air flow sensor has a problem.

inmemory codes or failure to reset will alos cause the problem to be sure you need a vehicular diagnostic.

WARNING be sure if you transmission needs servicing to do it asap.

Just replaced valve covers on Nissan Maxima 2002 due to misfire. Now it smokes and burns oil every start? What's should I do .

If is is only smoking when you first start it up. Most likely the valve guide seals, oil is leaking into the cylinders and smoking when you start it up.

2006 CTS Engine light on.

Whenever this warning light or any other stays on in the dash it is indicating that the systems control module (or the system sensor in the case of lights like low oil pressure, door open indicators etc.) has detected a fault, it then disables the system (this applies to ABS,TCS, TCM, SRS, TPMS, MIL, CEL and BCM faults and others) as long as the light is on. You must now have the dealer hook up a special electronic diagnostic tool and "scan" the system for the fault code that is stored for the problem(s)

Legend of Abbreviations. ABS Anti-lock brake system. TCS Traction control system, TCM Transmission control module, SRS Supplemental restraint system, BCM Body control module. TPMS Tire Pressure Monitor System, MIL Malfunction Indicator Lamp, CEL Check Engine Light.

1990 volvo 740gl far left corner of dashboard has a yellow light thats on constantly. a diagram of a car with a zigzag road. whats that mean.

Either you have a problem with the TCS (Traction Control System), or the TCS is switched off. Most cars with TCS have a button on the shift or the dash labeled "TCS" or "TCS OFF". Find the button, and press it with the car running in gear. If the light goes out, problem solved.
If you cannot manually disengage TCS (no button), or when you press the TCS button the light flashes, check all your brakes and make sure none are dragging or worn out. Also make sure all your tires are properly inflated and balanced, and none are worn out.
TCS works by controlling your brakes on slippery roads and will dynamically apply the brakes to each wheel in order to prevent a skid, even when your foot is not on the brake pedal. During normal driving, the TCS light is out and will either come on briefly or flash when it is active and preventing your car from going into a skid. When the light is on constantly, the system is disabled- either because it was shut off by the driver pressing the TCS (or TCS OFF) button, or because the system has detected a brake problem and automatically disabled it for safety reasons. Worn or dragging brakes, a tire that is flat or worn, or even a wheel that is badly out of balance will cause the system to disable itself, and a severe wheel alignment problem will also.

Tcs light came on with my 2000 honda odyssey, what does that mean?

TCS = Traction Control System

The TCS light is on because the check engine light is on this is common repair the check engine light failure abd the tcs will go back to normal.

You need to check the code to see if it is a trans code and then if it falls under the bulletin limits Honda will replace the trans under warranty. Even if you are out of warranty Honda will sometimes do a partial warranty. Here's a copy of the Bulletin.

There are several things that will turn the check engine light and tcs light on .if you get the code I can tell you exactly what the problem is . on your year i see transmission problems as well as egr problems. if you go to any large auto parts store they will check the code for free or a very small fee.

Hope helps (remember to rate this answer).

My honda odyssey 2003 model has aq knock sensor circuit malfunction problem detected by the computer, also the engine light is always on, and the TCS light showing when i am in motion. how do i correct...

The tcs light will come on whenever the engine light is on, this is because the tcs cant operate correctly when engine is not running good so its shut down by the computer, the code if the only code means there a problem with the knock sensor, you will need to check the connection and make sure the wire is good and if it is then you will need to replace the knock sensor, heres a diagram to help you locate the knock sensor good luck, hope this helps,johnjohn2_69.gif

Why does the ABS and TCS light up?

There has been a fault detected in the antilock brake system that has caused these lights to illuminate. An ABS system diagnostic will be required to find the source of the problem. Repair the ABS and the Traction Control will be corrected also.
Good luck.

Tcs light and engine check light on my 2000 honda odyssey

I had the same code/symptoms a few weeks ago. Dealer did a nice job checking through all the details. Replaced the egr too, but no improvement. Finally found one cylinder not firing correctly (not the same pressure as the other cylinders.) Dealer did a value clean/adjustment, for about $250, and the problem has been gone for about a month now. We are also getting about 15% better mileage.

Hope this helps.

Overheating and now engine 'clicking noises.

possible causes of overheating are, dirty cooling system, clogged radiator, bad thermostat. Use only distilled water with a good quality coolant.

still overheating? have your top head checked - warped head, valves, valve seats, etc. You might need to have your engine's compression checked if it is still within specs.
