Fuel pump doesn't always turn on

Someone would need to check the relay to see if it is actually working.
The computer grounds the relay for 3 seconds to boost pressure during startup. The computer must see oil pressure or RPM to continue grounding the relay.
If the relay is not always getting a ground signal from the computer, there could be another problem. Or if it is not always getting power from the key switch. Or if the power is not always getting from the relay to the pump.

Electronic fuel pump doesn't alway run when you turn on the ignition

That only means the pressure is still within range,so it doesn't have to run until injectors let fuel thru into engine and it fires up.
What problem are you having, that makes you think it has a fuel problem.Be specific, please? don-ohio (:^)

oil change is ok air filter clean plugs ok no check engine on using ac more often or injectors are dirty put a injector cleaner in the tank at next fill up

I am installing a trans cooler on a 700R trans. Which line is the return line?

most trans coolers don`t have a thermostat in them to allow quicker warm up of the trans fluid so it doesn`t matter which line is connected to the cooler as the flow will always be the same through the cooler.however the line that is at the bottom of the radiator is usually the return line and the top line is the pressure line and the fluid cools as it flows through the rad tank to the lower line.hth

I have a 1990 911 Porsche Carerra 2 convertible. I can't seem to get the top to go back up. Not sure why. The car has the key in the accessory position with my foot on brake and parking brake enabled.

You can always close the top by pulling it up by hand. It pulls hard but you can pull it up and it might require two peaple, and then latch it down. Fuses fail to connect in the fuse panel and the switchs fail as do the motor in the pump that makes the top move. Your right also that if the car doesn't sense that the e= brake isn't on or the is'nt moving it'll not work the top either. Many fuses have to be good for all the systems that interlock the top to work the most common fuse to blow is the cigar lighter fuse as peaple plug in things that short out oftern.

2005 explorer started making a whistling sound like air is escaping from the dash somewhere. I can find no commonality except the car is always moving when it happens (not idling), heater off and so is...

How about the power booster for your brakes. That is done by vacuum and you would hear it in the vehicle. Have your brakes felt a little harder when you press on the pedal lately? just a thought. hope this helps and good luck
