1996 ford aerostar van light switch

Parking lights and tail light refuse to go off unless we pull the cable off the battery. They stay on even when keys are taken out . The alarm still dings when you take the keys out, warning you that the lights are on.

I had the light switch replaced.....and disconnected the alarm. Evidently it was installed wrong. Then replaced the battery with the proper sized battery. The one that was in the van was too small.

I took it to the Ford dealership. Don't ever let a shade tree mechanic work on your electrical. It turns out, someone wired the alarm totally wrong. Which shorted out my headlight switch.

1994 aerostar van , automatic trans , will not shift after sreering column was worked on

Check out the brake pedal lights. If the van is stuck in Park, a switch on the brake pedal lever sends a signal to the release. The brake lights probably do not work and you are missing this signal.

Your foot needs to stay on the brake pedal in order for the shifter to work.

I have a 2001 pontiac aztek. The parking lamps and the tail lights will NOT shut off unless I disconnect the battery. The car also has a warning light that comes on and reads "Park Lamps Out". How do I fix...

Check brake switch near brake pedal most often it will be broken. sometimes you can try pulling up on the brake pedal to get the light to go out for a sec if that works it is the brake light switch. usually the warning light is tied to the actual light sockets it is also possible that the brake light switch went bad and from the tail lights staying on so long it may have melted the wires at the tail lights and now causing the warning light to light.

Amp light on my 1993 ford aerostar stay on. what could be the problem?

Your Voltage Regulator is bad or your Alternator has an Internal short. Make sure you have a belt on that pulley. If you do have a belt, then the best thing would be to go to any autoparts store and have the Alternator checked. Most of the modern Alternators have a built-in Regulator and most mechanics just switch the Alternator to eliminate the problem.

You may run down the Battery trying to drive somewhere for an on the car test. It is safer to just remove the part if you can not depend on the Van not getting you back from the autoparts store.

I hope my solution is very helpful to you.

Tail lights stay on

Check the brake light switch attached to the top of the brake pedal. (It will be up under the dash and might be hard to see.) This switch activates the brake lights when the brake pedal moves or allows to move a button on the switch. If the switch gets out of position, the brake lights might not operate properly.

Another possibility is that the switch is bad.

2000 F150 parking lights and tail lights stay on

Are you sure they aren't the stoplights (brake lights)? There should be a stoplight switch connected to the brake pedal and replacing it would correct the problem. If it is the tail and parking lights, you must need a new switch that controls them. Signed, 64 year old car guy.

Tail lights

There is a switch on top of the steering column that switches the parking light facility on and off. Check that this switch is not in the on position . If it is on then your side lights will stay on even if you turn the lights off.
