Brake booster hose? Please help

Hi,
I have a 2002 jaguar x type. The brake booster hose has a hole in it.We got
one side of the hose, the side in front of the steering wheel. The side going into the engine will not come out. Is there a tool I need? Or does something need to be unscrewed first? Please help.

Thanks,
Keith

Why does my 2002 jaguar x type run so roughly and the engine light keeps flashing on and it says cruise control not available, won't pick up power

There is a hose that runs across the top of the engine, just underneath the air box. Examine that hose carefully and you will probably find a hole in it. Usually either where the engine has burned through or abraded it. A new replacement looks a bit different as it has ridges that take it off the top cover.

When I start my car the brakes still stay hard they do not depress, you can barely stop the car , what may be the problem?

You will need to replace the Vaccum Booster Hose which runs from the intake manifold to the brake booster. I just fixed mine with parts from Partsgeek.com for less than 1/2 the dealer price. In addition to the Vaceum boster hose you will also need the booster adaptor which locks the vaccum booster hose to the intake manifold.

Your brake booster works off of engine vacuum. It's located behind the brake master cylinder. It may be the issue from what you describe.

Brakes west very hard, now it's very tough to brake. Any thought's on what could cause this? Brake fluid seems to be good.

Hi,

Did you check the viscosity of the brake fluid? Also, please check the brake booster and the vaccumm hose. It might be leaking or even disconnected.
