Check a/c relay under hood, (very common)providing the system has a full charge of 134a.

My 99 tahoe a/c is not working and is recharged properly. The clutch does not engage on the compressor and the compressor is new. What can the problem be

if you did the recharge then check the gas pressures as there are two main switches that control the ac operation
one is a high pressure switch which stops operation if there is excessive gas or a blockage and the other is a low pressure switch which stops operation if the gas has leaked out
did you have the ac system checked for leaks before gassing it or replacing the ac compressor
lastly some systems have a relay that controls the ac and that can fail

I bought ac recharge to make ac colder and now ac light keeps going off and on

The major problem with recharging your own ac system is that it needs a leak to require a refill
That leak eventually looses gas and the problem starts again
next thing is that it is not a matter of hooking up the supply and letting in gas as there has to be a set pressure requirement for the volume to be right. Now by what you have done is
not fixed the problem,
need to have the thermostat checked for correct operation
check operation of climate control (if fitted)
remember that more gas does.'t equate to colder air but a properly maintained ac system does.
have the system checked for leaks and operation by an accredited ac specialist shop

Why does My thermostat Not switch between ac,heat, defrost . there's cold air coming out of vents but not cold enough to be ac. Initially when this started the ac was blowing hot air

If the air flow cannot be controlled from vent/defrost/floor you may have a blend door issue. This is an electric motor that operates a door in the heating system to control airflow. There are usually 3 motors controlling airflow direction, heat and recirculation. The Ac not blowing cold may also be another problem. If the AC is operational, the compressor will be engaged and the Ac low pressure line under the hood will bw cold. If this is all ok then a blend door issue should be suspected

How did you know when the cooling fans are not working

You may have one conventional belt-driven fan with a thermal clutch and the other electric or, both could be electric on your car.
The cooling fan that operates during non-AC operation (just a running engine) if electric, will be controlled by a thermal switch in the lower radiator tank and may not turn on at all unless the engine is warmed up. The belt-driven fan should be turning at some speed all the time if the engine is running and at much higher speed with a hot engine.
The fan that cools mostly when the AC is operating won't run under normal operation but may turn on in hot weather (or when the engine is under heavier loads) even without the AC operating.
Checking them would require having a warmed-up engine and the AC turned on. Both fans regardless of type should be turning then.

My 1995 impala overheat when i turn ac off.. but fine when ac on

leave A/C off and check to see if radiator fan is coming on when engine is hot. If not, troubleshoot fan and fan circuit. See my tips at http://www.fixya.com/cars/r5929960-s_thermostat

Air compressor wont come on to to put in 134a

The AC compressor does not have to be running to charge the AC system, and the low pressure switch will even prevent the AC compressor from operating until there is sufficient pressure to operate the AC compressor without damaging it.

Start the engine and turn on the AC, then charge the system with the R-134a and as soon as there is enough pressure built up to trip the low pressure switch off, the AC compressor clutch should then engage and then finish charging the AC system.

My cooling fan does not come on when car is started.both the ac and cooling fan comes on when ac is started

The cooling fan is required to operate when the engine temperature rises above the maximum operating temperature threshold.
After the car is started, it will usually take some time for this temperature to be reached.
Ensure fan runs when fan control temperature sensor switch demands.

2005 sprinter 3500 88000 mi ac clutch will not engage is there an in line fuse? coolant is full please help!!!

coolant level has nothing to do with ac operation.freon level needs to be checked. a high pressure or low pressure situation could prevent operation. condensers have been known to leak right behind ac fan
