Have a 1996 saturn sl1 cant get any heat inside...have replaced thermostat already and have driven another couple thousnd kilometers, no change inside, still no heat

the thermostat is never the culprit, if it is bad the engine will tell you, not the heater. the heater core needs to be replaced. get a book or CD to show you how. good luck.

I just had a Spring Maint. they call it, checked hoses/belts/air etc. changed oil/filter rotated tires. a week ago car started to run hot. Wasn't sure what was happening, took it in raidator cap...

I bet your thermostat is bad. I've run into the same problem. The only time your water pump will really need to be replaced is if the bearing on it goes out. Sounds like this mechanic was tryin to give you the run around. I'd start with the thermostat. The whole engine cooling system relies on the thermostat and it's kind of the weak point in the system.

Water not circulating in nissan micra. Thermostat changed. Fan works ok when bypassed. No noise from water pump. Engine runs quietly.

you will probably find that the pump impeller has disconnected it's self from the shaft in side the water pump, they are sometimes made of plastic, probably have to dig deep and check the pump as probably its driven of the cam belt, not that bad a job, may as well change the cam belt at the same time ,,,,

1994 Toyota 4Runner Overheating

I had the same problem - my 95 4Runner would overheat in 4WD only, and coolant would bubble out and spill over.

The problem turned out to be with the rear heater tubes and the fan clutch - my mechanic bypassed the rear heater tubes and I have no more problems. Not exactly sure why this helped. To replace the rear heater tubes, it would've cost $325, but to bypass cost $75. Most people don't even really use the heat in the back seat.

The second part of the problem, and most important, was the fan clutch needed to be replaced. At low speeds, it wasn't kicking in when it should have been, only working at higher speeds. Once I replaced the fan clutch and the bypassed the rear heater tubes, all has been well.

Hope this helps!!

Engine makes loud roar

It sounds like a fan clutch has failed.

A fan clutch is a thermostatic device that exists as an integral component of certain automotive cooling systems. When the engine is cool or even at normal operating temperature, the fan clutch partially disengages the engine's mechanically-driven radiator cooling fan, generally located at the front of the water pump and driven by a belt and pulley connected to the engine's crankshaft. This saves power, since the engine does not have to fully drive the fan
