Starting problem My wife drove it to the store and said it was fine. Then she tried to start it to come home and it just cranked over and never started. A friend of ours says its probably fuel filter/pump. We removed the fuel line after the pump and get an initial squirt of fuel as the key is turned to on. Then as we crank it over, no more fuel comes out at all? Can you help me please? Is it the pump or could it be anti-theft or start system issue? I don't know :(

Engine needs to crank over strong and steady to have a chance of starting. Youi said it has a poor crank. Battery may be low or bad. If you get the engine to crank over corrrectly and it srill does not start check fuel pressure, spark and injector pulse.

Won't start how ? When your the key to the start position what happens ? The engine spins but won't start an run . this a crank no start condition . If nothing happens when you turn the key to start ,this is a no crank no start condition . Need to be clear on this so we know what to have check . If nothing happens when turning the key to start position ,try moving gear selector to neutral - park neutral safety switch . If when you turn the key to start an the engine does spin but doesn't start an run ,check for spark ,fuel pressure . see what's missing .

Try some starting fluid, if it wants to run then you need to check the Inertia switch. The location of this switch is behind the passengers foot kickpanel.

There is a Reset button that you push and it will reconnect the fuelpump. Please rate my info. You can try the Reset without testing with starting fluid but the fluid verifies fuel starvation as the problem.

sounds like the starter is pulling too many amps any local auto store should have equipment to check starter good luck

when you have a bad crank sensor it will brake down after it gets to hot.but when it cools down the car will start .replace the crank sensor

it might be a blockage in your fuel lines, this will sometimes make your car go into failsafe, because it knows there is gas in the car but a limited amount reaches the carbarettor, this is also why it will sometimes stop while trying to "rapidly" accelarate ( from a red light )
