Question about 1998 Ford Explorer
Sounds like it could be an inertia switch located above your right foot when in passenger seat i have had the same prob in a 96 a good size pot hole can set it off it disables the fuel pump and makes it seem like a bad pump

If it's the antitheft system, when you try to start it the antitheft light will flash rapidly.
