Question about 2008 Honda Ridgeline

1 Answer

Bedrail caps Bought a new 2008 Ridgline. Had the dealer install the Honda rigid toneau cover. When I lift the cover, it lifts the bedrail cap, even snapping the fasteners. Dealer told me it was a work in progress that they would look into it. They would replace the railcap whenever I wanted, but it is an hours drive each way plus waiting for a tech to do the warranty. The only fix they came up with was for me to duct tape the seam from the bed to the rail cap where the gskt on the cover catches it. Come on, I drive a new Honda of the lot and their service department tells me to use duct tape to keep it together. My first Honda product ever. Very disappointed. Does anyone out there have a better fix?

I have the same problem with the factory tonneau cover. That is when I open the tonneau cover it catches the edge of the bed cap and tries to pick it up - and ruin it. I bought the vehicle used and the salesman lifter the tonneau cover up and bent the plastic bed rail cap. I wasn't very happy and the swapped my bed cap with another ridgeline on their lot. I recently removed and reinstalled my tonneau cover and it caught on the bed cap. I removed the bedcap and reinstalled a few time and it was much better. I also sweezed the plastic on the bed cap when it was removed and this also helped. There is slight adjustment when you reinstall the bed cap. To remove/install the bed cap is quite simple. There is a small plastic tap that cap be removed at the back of the bed cap. Then the bedcap is slid forward and it will then lift straight up. When reinstalling try to move the cap away from the bed such that the lip of the cap is flush with the bed. Hope this helps.

Sounds like the dealer, not the product. i would take it to another honda dealer to have them look at it. they will probably tell you that it was installed wrong and i would get my money back from the dealer who did it in the first place. you can fight this. ive seen it many times working in the service department.

Jeep grand Cherokee does the power steering cap

Open the hood of your Jeep Grand Cherokee. Locate the power steering pump and reservoir on the front driver's side of the engine.
Wipe the cap and area around it with a clean rag or paper towel. This will keep dirt out of the system, when you open the cap, as well as keeping some of the dirt and grease off your hands.
Remove the cover from the power steering reservoir by turning it counterclockwise. Lift straight up on the cover to lift the cover and dip stick out of the reservoir.
Note the fluid level on the dip stick. There are several marks indicating "Add" as well as a mark for "Full." If the level is at or below the "Add" mark, you will need to add a small amount of fluid to the system.
Replace the cap onto the reservoir and turn it clockwise to tighten it. Close the hood of the Jeep, making sure it is latched securely.

What is the best way to change out my distributor cap on my 1998 Acura TL?

hello,
Locate the distributer cap. Mark all your spark plug wires with some tape and number system so they go back in the same position (on the new cap). Remove the spark plug wires from the old cap (after marking them) and lay them to the side. Remove the 2 Torx or Phillips screws from the cap. Lift the cap up and off. The rotor will be directly under the cap. Lift it up and off. This may take a little rocking motion while pulling on it to get it off. Align the new rotor on the shaft and push it on firmly. Place the new cap on and install the 2 screws removed earlier. Install the plug wires on the cap in the order they come off. Ensure the wires are pushed in firmly.
Thanks

1992 Ford Crown Victoria Oil Pan is leaking. Is this a major problem to replace? Fred

It is recommended that you lift out the engine before attempting to replace the oil pan. Once the engine is lifted you can remove the bolts, remove the pan, clean all the old gasket material.
Installation: Remove the rear main bearing cap oil seal Remove the timing cover oil seal Clean all the mating surfaces and seal grooves Install new oil pan front cover seals Install a new rear main bearing cap oil seal Install new oil pan side gaskets on the block Make sure the tabs of the front and rear seal fit properly as these are critical spots Attach the oil pan to the engine block and install the retaining bolts

Brake fluid appears to be low. The only resevior cap is a small cap covered by a rubber cover. Appears there are threads on the outside of the small plastic piece? Then there is only a small, pin hole...

Hi: I own a 1994 Honda Accord LX. The piece you refer to is only the upper cap. That portion is basically a breather area and the tiny hole is a breather hole.

To remove the cap to add fluid is easy. The larger gray colored cap below the small one you referred to is the one you want to remove. The smaller one will stay on top of the larger cap.

You'll want to turn the lid to the left about an inch or so. It does not screw off like a threaded cap, but instead turns only an inch or so, then lift straight up. There are multiple little hooks on the under side of the cap and rails on the cup where they basically twist and lock into place.

It's pretty easy. Give it a try. It should come off.
