Question about 2007 Cadillac CTS 3.6L

The car will not start. The battery is in good condition. I have a keyless start and had the starter replaced 3 months ago when it would not start the first time. Now it would not start again with the new starter. The car is a 2008 with 8500 miles.

At times car will turn over but not start. After a wait of 5 to 45 minutes it fires back up. Turns over fine. At has 106000 miles. No check engine light. No other indications. Once running it's just fine.

My 2004 CTS started doing the same thing last week (October 24) Took it to the dealer the PCM was shot. It was covered under the factory warranty (130 000km if I remember right) works great now.

I had the same problem with my 07 CTS not starting and the continuous effort of starting fixed the problem. it took 8 seconds o turn over

I have a 2007 CTS that didn't start, it sounded like it was out of gas, starter was doing it's job but I got nothing at all.
Talking to a Cadillac Tech he said that it's a misfire in the engine, it's programed to fire when the key is turned, but sometimes the engine is in the half start mode, inbetween the fine line of starting and not, just turn the key and hold it without giving it gas, the car will start after 15 sec or so and then the car will add gas as needed, you might see white smoke come out but that's just any extra gas that's being burned. I tried this and sure enough after 15 sec's of holding the key down it started. good luck...

I had just replaced my starter a couple days ago on my 96 grand jeep cheroke v8, but even before i did i started getting this check battery on the little screen and the check guages light would come on. ...

If the battery voltage gauge goes to zero, it may be a bad connection at the battery.
Batteries generally last an average of only 3 years, but they will go bad gradually until the voltage drop on starting will drop below levels that the car can run the starter.

Try a new battery, they're not too expensive at Walmart or Sears or a local auto parts store.
Try the largest CCA capacity battery you can buy and you won't have regrets, in my experience.

Good luck on this repair.

Will not start, new battery 3 months ago. think

it could be starter or altinator
try another battery if it starts with that its your altinator
if it was your starter it would make a clicking or whiring noise when you try to start it.

A month ago I bought A used 2000 elantra it used to start fpr the first try In the same time I changed the engine oil and Trying to put a good battery when I finished it did not start.

Verify (test) the battery is good/charged. Verify good, clean cable connections (positive & negative, correct polarity). Inspect positive and negative cables for loosness (positive cable condition to starter connection - clean/tight) negative cable condition to ground connection clean/tight). Replace/repair/clean/tighten cable(s) as needed. Did you remove/disconnect any components from the engine when you replaced the battery? If so, did you remember to put/reconnect them back?

Starting

I would make sure that both the positive and negative (ground) cables as well as the connections to the battery are good. If all these are in good condition, maybe your starter or it's soinoid is starting to fail. Rick

Have someone measure voltage across the battery terminals; right at the terminals, not on the clamps while you start it.
Then have them measure on the clamps too; they may be slightly corroded causing some resistance that shouldn't be there.
Another possible source of problems is the cable that connects the battery to the starter terminal; removing and cleaning this often helps.
Your battery may just be getting marginal and starters draw 100-200 amperes of current to operate so all connections need to be good and the battery in good condition.

BTW, we have replaced some modern batteries after only 10 months of use.
Some chemical change has been made years ago (probably 'environmentally friendly' now) that seems to help them die young.
