Question about 2001 Cadillac DeVille
I have an intermittent problem with my 2001 DHS Climate Control System. Occasionally, when I start-up, there are loud rattling, clicking type noises from the dash board behind the climate control panel as the system begins to kick in. The noises stop if I shut the system off or cycle the system manually with the "mode" switch to ventilation options other than the "auto" mode. Is this a known type of problem? How do I take the climate control panel off to get a look at what is going on? I would take the car in to someone, but the problem is intermittent.
The noise is most likely coming from a sticky temperature control blend door, ( they warp from heat, not an un-common issue) it is moved with a electric actuator. This is very expensive to fix, requires removal of the dash to repair, if the system works ok then if it was me I would "live with it".
