Engine swap can you install a 1997 4.0 auroa engine in a 1997 deville or will it affect the pcm. thanks tim

Cadillac Northstar owners to those whose vehicle is overheating .My 99 Deville was overheating turns out it was Catalytic Converter.Dont rely on PCM for code.If the Cat converter gets plugged up the heat will not get past converter it will back up into engine block causing overheating.My deville ran at between 190 & 201 degrees this morning.If you have a misfire the unburnt fuel goes into Converter and causes damage to converter (blockage).Alot of people overlook converter when overheating happens.

Hey, The o2 sensor affects the fine tuning of the engine. it is used to tell how well the engine is burning off the fuel in the combustion process. if there is too much oxygen, then it will adjust the air/fuel mixture accordingly and vice versa. If the car runs too lean or to rich you will loose power and possibly damage your engine. It would be a good idea to replace if its faulty.

Hello! A P1483= Engine cooling system performance...Is; Temperature gauge reading normal (thermostat)...Radiator full, no leaks...Cooling fan operation normal...Upper radiator hose hot when engine reaches normal operating temperature (thermostat)...If not, these are common causes of a P1483...

Turn the key on. Hold off and warmer on the climate control until all the lights light up. It will now read out all the codes in all the computers. Let it go until it reads (PCM?). Now push up on the blower speed. It will read PCM DATA. Now push down (I think 3 times) until it reads CLEAR CODES. Now push up on the blower speed. It should read PCM CODES CLEARED. Now turn the key off.

Hello! When you swapped the engine, did you have the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) from the new motor as well? If not - you will need to have a "CASE" learn run on the PCM that you're currently using (the one from your previous engine). Important note: the 1997 Grand Prix GT's and GTP's have quite a few differences from the 98-03's. The CASE procedure is run using the Tech II tool and can be done at any dealership in about 10 minutes. If they aren't sure what that is, suggest to them that they follow the procedure for DTC 1336 - Crankshaft Position (CKP) System Variation Not Learned. :)

Hello mataylor990: My name is Roger and I will answer for you. According to All Data and Mitchell repair manuals. Once you have the Timming marks set properly at the dears. There is no further Timming to set. They manufacture does not supply a static Timming for a light. Timming is controlled by the PCM.

random misfire does the engine have lack of power or a miss... sounds like maybe bad coil pack......wire.....or plug do good tune up see what happens let me know if more help needed

PO135 is oxygen sensor Bank1 sensor1. PO404 is EGR.
personally, I'd pull EGR off, clean pintle good with throttle body cleaner or carb cleaner, re-install, erase codes & try it for a while & see if it code(s) come back.

P1139 = HO2S Insufficient switching Bank 1 Sensor 2
P1140 = HO2S Transition Time Ratio Bank 1 Sensor 2
