I have changed the fuel pump on the mercury but it will not start . gas is not getting to the engine . any suggestions?

Fuel filter is a possibility but that usually reduses the flow, not stops it. If you have access to an air compressor, blow air back through the system (from the fuel filter back to the tank, in an effort to dislodge any rubbish that might be blocking the line.
Just a quick thought, can you hear the humming sound of the pump working?

What are your changes of having of taking the blown head gasket to machine shop and repaired and putting back on motor

Cylinder head gaskets (the thin copper layer between the head and block) are not normally repairable, it is better to fit a new one.

If you mean getting the cylinder head itself repaired at the machine shop that is certainly possible but depends on the extent of the damage and wether it is iron or aluminium (particularly if it needs welding).

I have a 1993 jeep grand Cherokee. It overheated and wen I put water in it, it flushes straight out real fast near the transmission. Wen I looked at it, it looks like the engine block is cracked. How can I...

Cracked block? Eh... You can try to have it welded but thats not a promising fix. I think you may have signed your jeeps death certificate. On the bright side you can pick up a used motor from a salvage for around $450. Try welding it. Its worked for me before.

Is there any number on the engine block aside from the VIN number?

The only number that should be on the main engine block is the engine number this wont be on a metal plate welded on or soldered on.
The number will be stamped into the main engine block not the cylinder head it will be just bellow their on the main engine block.

Hope this tells you what you need to know let me know if you need further assistance ok

Noise from the rear of my 97 crv when turning left and right

Hi

Sounds more a rear wheel bearing problem ?

Check for excessive play, and noise from both rear wheel bearings and hubs, with the vehicle jacked up and supported safely.

Good Luck !

A FixYa rating would be nice...Thanks... John.

Leaking coolant from engine..

Unfortunately, This Problem is Going to Be Either a Blown Head Gasket or a Cracked Block. Just in Case, Check all the Hoses and Check and see if your Model Has a Transmission Cooler Installed, Hopefully on of these is the Culprit. Please Rate My Response! Thanks!
