the problem is common and the fix is to remove the cluster assy and sent it in for repair to a factory approved repair center, the part needed to repair this are not sold to the consumer only to the factory repair centers, the cost to repair is modest, call the dealer for detail's of where to send it.
The best solution i can offer for this problem is to take it to the dealer, they will probably have to send the cluster out to have the odometer repaired. You can call them first to find out exactly wha needs to be done. Hope this helps.
just the other day i had a similar problem. a/c came on but no cool air. earlier when i had the battery out working on fuse box i had forgotton to tighten ground cables under battery. when i took the battery back out and tightened the two black cables. this fixed my problem. mdtram
