I have the special tool to compress the brake caliper on my front disc brakes 1994 V-6 ford Mustang....my issue is, how can i get to a rubber boot cover over the top bolt holding the caliper in place? I see the bottom bolt exposed and easy to get to, but the top bolt is covered and I don't know how to remove it or what in order to unscrew the bolt in order to remove the brake caliper. Alfred in El Paso.

If you did the brakes correctly then the brake light should have gone off when you restarted the car.
Exactly what brake work did you do? A simple pad change or did you have to open the system up for the fluid?

My brake pads have been changed and the wheels continue to squeal. They rattle and squeak when driving and braking
it just sounds like a poor quality job...the proper way to do a brake job is a high quality set of front pads such as a bendix or raybestes gold line pads,, then have the front brake rotors machined an a amco brake lathe or even better a on the car brake lathe. make sure all brake caliper hardware is properly cleaned an lubercated or replaced with new hardware....then have the rear brakes adjusted( adjust only if ur car has rear drum brakes...rear disc brakes r selfadjusting

sounds like they might have not tightened up a bleeder screw or brake line you might consider taking it back to the garage who did your brake job.

Abs light stays on all the time and says track off on my 2oo1 pt cruiser the brakes are working fine i have just had all new brake pads cuold this have something to do with it
was the brake light on b4 brake job? and did you do the brake job or a shop.....if the abs light wasnt on b4 brake job thenwhen the pistons on the caliper where pushed back it screwed the abs pump...if it was on b4 brake job i would look in to a abs sensor on the wheel bearings

I would suggest that you take it to another shop and have the system checked by a technician.A good pad to install is wagner thermo quiet brake pads and have them check the thickness of the rotors also.A good technician will check your complete braking system to make sure there are no faulty parts.

Chrysler 2001 - my brake pads are new, but someone said my rotors need to be changed. look like the Chrysler dealership that did my brake job, did a poor job. I have been having brake issues every...
replacing rotors is not an easy job but its not all that hard either, brake pads and calipers have to be removed, then the rotor, if your husband doesn't feel comfortable doing this i suggest you take it to a garage, they are your brakes after all :)

Brake job
A brake job is something that is done properly and I've seen so many bad brake jobs in my time. I know it is rather expensive to get a brake job done but to do it yourself one has to be very carefull that it is done right. New rotors are about 30 dollars each and then there are the seals and rotors that have to be serviced properly. Needlessly to do the whole brake job would be quite a job for you if you haven't done it before.

Looking for diagram of rear brakes - doing brake job
Pull both wheels off, do one at a time, use the other side as a guide to put it back together, I am a retired auto mechanic and this is the best way to do the job, also remember the larger shoe always goes to the back.
