I have a similar problem with a model year 2000 Silhouette. The ABS & Traction Control light come on at start-up and stay on. Re-starting is not a problem though as engine does not die. Ocassionally, the ABS motor cycles while driving. Pedal pulsation is felt, but no effect on braking. I SUSPECT it may have something to do with power brake fluid sensor or resevoir level, but have not pinned that down, i.e., lights do not seem to come on when vehicle is sitting at a slight nose-up incline. Hmmm!

I have a 2003 Olds Silhouette, 124,000 miles. Abs and Trac light started to come on along with Service ABS system light. Took it in to shop, they did diagnostic check & inflated all the tires and said it was OK. It was for 3 days, then the lights came on again, so this time, I put air in the tires. Once again, no lights for 2 days, but once again, the lights are back. It cannot just be tire pressure, but car runs OK and runs well even though warning light are on.

    Any suggestions ?

I have the same problem on my 2000 olds. Only now the turn signals and the flashers are acting up too. The flashers flash alternatly with the head lights and the left turn signal flashes faster when i apply the brakes. This sucks because I like my van but now I am affraid to drive because something else might go wrong or I might get stopped by the police for the turn signal thing. What to do?

PRE-DIAGNOSTIC INSPECTIONBefore diagnosing ABS/TCS, perform a comprehensive visual inspection of system as follows.Check ABS/TCS wiring harness connectors for looseness. Check harness routing; pay particular attention to wheel speed sensor wiring harness routing. Check fuses No. 1D, 5B and 6B in instrument panel fuse block. Check fuses No. 1 and 2 in underhood fuse block. Check brake fluid level in master cylinder reservoir. Check brake fluid level in Pressure Modulator Valve (PMV) assembly reservoir. Ensure parking brake is fully released. Ensure parking brake switch is functioning properly. Always perform ABS/TCS system functional check before using DIAGNOSTIC CODE CHARTSThe EBCM/EBTCM has self-diagnostic capability, which can detect system failures. Fault codes stored by EBCM/EBTCM can be displayed using Tech 1 scan tester. There are no provisions for flash code diagnostics.Begin ABS/TCS diagnosis with PRE-DIAGNOSTIC INSPECTION procedure. If failures are found during pre-diagnostic inspection, perform necessary repairs, and proceed with ABS/TCS FUNCTIONAL CHECK. See Fig. 5 .If no failures are found during pre-diagnostic inspection, go to ABS/TCS FUNCTIONAL CHECK. See Fig. 5 . The ABS/TCS FUNCTIONAL CHECK will either indicate ABS/TCS is functioning properly or direct technician to various diagnostic procedures such as diagnostic charts, symptom diagnosis or BRAKE warning light diagnosis.CHART D - TRACTION OFF WARNING LIGHT ON CONTINUOUSLY & NO DTC SET (BUICK WITH UH8 OR U2A INSTRUMENT CLUSTER)Circuit DescriptionWhen ignition switch is first turned to RUN position, EBTCM goes through a self-test, which lasts 2-4 seconds. During self-test, EBTCM commands TRACTION OFF indicator warning light on. Powertrain Control Module (PCM) can also command EBTCM to set a Code 75 which will illuminate TRACTION OFF indicator.Traction control switch is located either on instrument panel center trim plate or driver's front door trim panel. Switch allows driver to select traction control mode (on/off). When traction control system is turned off, TRACTION OFF warning light comes on.EBTCM monitors transaxle temperature through

Service engine, antilock brake, and trac off sensors are lit in 98 Olds Intrigue

Yes it is possible that you have a bad wheel bearing which has the abs sensor in it. Hence the abs light on. Traction control utilizes the abs as inputs therefore traction control will come on.

Abs light is on and tractiioncontrol light says off but cant turn it back on with switch

abs light means that a problem is being sense in the anti lock brake system, Traction control only activates when needed and is not related to the abs light, if you turn the traction control on and try driving and making the car slide the traction control will activate.but as for the abs light you need to get your brakes checked.

Abs light on and traction control light on

On most vehicles with traction control, the abs system monitors it. If there's a issue with the ABS, the traction control wont work. Check sensors on all 4 wheels and make sure they're not cracked or broken

1998 Olds 88, Replaced all the brake lines (because of corosion) I took care to get lines back on anti-lock unit in same position as origonal. Brake light on dash did go out but the ABS and Traction...

you probably push air into the ABS unit when getting your lines replace but the Traction Control light might be on because the system might use the wheel speed sensor on the ABS unit to enable the Traction Control.......

sounds like the brake pads may be metal to metal, that could be the noise problem, but until u have the system tested for the trouble code that is setin the ABS modules memory when the light comes on you are guessing, the Dealer is the only one in most cases that has the scan tool to check ABS trouble codes.

2001 olds ABS and traction control sensor issue

An ABS sensor DOES affect the traction control system. Traction control uses these sensors to determine if a wheel is losing traction. A bad sensor will cause both the ABS and TRACTION lights to come on.
The CHECK ENGINE light however is going to be a seperate problem.
