HI.....
On your PONTIAC MONTANA,
You don;t have to WORRY about the timing belt.
Because your have use a TIMING CHAIN.
And is suposed to be good for the life of the engine.
But you can replace, if you Know that is bad, making grinning noise,.
But DON'T for maintenance.
Is very small. that mean Hard to come damaged.

I hope this information work for you. and resolve your question.

Thank you for use fixya.

How long will a timing chain last on a passat with a v6 engine

Hi,
Actually the timing chain is for a lifetime, the only thing you replace is the chain guide and the tensioner.

Hope that helps you out!

Do 2002 pontiac grand am se has timing belt or timing chain and at what miles it has to be changed

Hi
The car has a timing belt - [ rubber] and should be changed at 100,000 miles - each 100,000 miles = new belt.
To save problems many people do this at about 90,000 miles and it is also best to change the water pump while you're in there.

Best of it.

I have rust beneath my 1999 Pontiac Montana 3.4 V6 Extend Van. I believe this is called the rocker panels and they are located directly beneath both sliding doors. The rest of the van looks great except...

you can get direct replacements from a dealr or patern parts from a bodyshop,as they are part of the chassis, the last thing you want is a cowboy fitting them, get em done properly ,unless you know about welding that is.....and inject with rust inhibitor after fitting.

1999 Pontiac Montanna

Van will run but first get under and take off the centre muffler and then start if runs ok then replace exhaust system complete...
If still wont go you could have a blockage in the manifold but if the exhaust was buggard and bent it stopped the gasses coming out, like backing into a load of dirt and filling up the tail pipe with mud.
Or the catty converter is buggered.
