I got the same problem. I was told it was the AC control module that goes bad and it kills the ability to blow air out the AC dash vents. My Envoy is a piece of junk, electrically speaking.

I replaced the battery in my 04 envoy. I lost the rear defrost, air conditioning, air recycle, and the ability to control the vents. I could control the fan fine. I just disconnected the battery for 1/2 hour, hooked it back up and everything worked fine. I guess reseting the computer solved it.

This is what you should do, I had the same problem on my 2005 Yukon Denali, and got it checked by an A/C Technician to find that the A/C Module which gives the power to the internal fan to blow the air through the dash vents, stopped working and changing this piece solved my problem...

Hope this helped
see ya

2002 Nissan altima all of my heater controls work except in floor position, then it blows out of dash vents.. What could be wrong here

Most vent systems are vacuum controlled. Could be a vacuum lines has come loose or the door that is controlled by switch is physically restricted. Vent door could be cable driven as well/broken, bent, cable. Both would require a little digging behind the dash. Try to pop the vent controls out and make sure everything is plugged in or moving as it should. Put the seat all the way back if you have to dive under.

Blows cold but only thru top dash vent

Sounds like you have a problem with your blend door in your air distribution box behind the dash. Somebody needs to get in there and figure out why it won't switch from defrost to the vents or floor setting.

The proper name of the AC Vents

Try Duct Vents, Ductwork Vents, or Dash Vents. Then Dash Outlet Vent, A/C Outlet Vent, Dash Panel Vent.

You may be able to find something in a Salvage Yard. The other problem you may be having is the Dash Panels are 1 component so there may be no separate sales for just parts on the panel. Say Lear makes the Dash panels for Ford; they come to the Assembly plant already assembled.

You may need to take off the Dash panel anyway to be able to pry out the old vents if you can get replacements. You would help yourself alot by going to a Salvage yard and seeing how stuff comes apart so you don't break your parts.

Now that you know the name of the parts, try a Dealer and ask if they can get new vents or not.

Lost ring in dash vent

Your vehicle has a central fan blower under the dash that feeds the cooled or heated air to the vents thru plastic tubes, sometimes round, sometimes flattened and curved to get from spot to spot. There are large vents at the base of the blower unit that supply air to the floor. If you locate that you can find the blower. Then there are smaller tubes that go to the other front and side dash vents. Be careful as there are wires and vacuum lines in the area which are connected to your vent controls on the dash. The bad news is that the top dash vents are usually fed from the top of the blower and may actually require a contortionist or partial dash and blower system disassembly to gain access. If you are lucky perhaps the ring fell all the way into the blower box itself and you may find that removing the side vent tubes alone will allow you to reach in the blower box and retrieve it. Otherwise it may take a professional a couple of hours to do the job and of course they will charge you accordingly. It's up to the value of the ring. Good Luck!

Need info on how to remove dash to replace dash lamps

2 screws at the top and then start prying. Be careful not to break the left vent. heater / radio cover must come off to get screws under there.
