Question about 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix

1 Answer

Fan not running

Fan would run one day and not the next. it did this for months. it finally quit and i had the resistor and it ran no problems for 2 months. now it stopped again. i bought a relay and replaced but nothing. it still won't work. the fact that the motor did work off and on leads me to believe it is not the blower motor. abut if it isn't what could it be. i read somewhere that there is a capacitor. is there? and could this be the problem?

should i replace the blower motor

I have a 2004 Bonneville SE. The cabin fan(s) worked great for 2 yrs, then started working irradically. Now, the blower fan doesn't work at all. If I turn the temp to heat and crack the window a little, warm air will circulate -- but the fan isn't moving ANY air. If I turn the AC on, select defrost and crack the window a little, cold air will circulate through the windshield vents. Otherwise, NO air moves in the car at all -- the fan doesn't come on at all. I have checked the four related fuses under the back seat. All appear to be good.

What else can I do? I'm not a mechanic, but I can do small repairs on my own -- *if* I know what needs to be replaced. THANKS!

Kerry, Check all fuses and relays, quite often it is the blower motor resistor. 3 rd link will show diagnosing fan. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

Blower fan control problem

Check the wiring to the motor and resistor pack For the motor to run at full speed all the time indicates that there is uncontrolled voltage to it which means that there is a earth after the motor before the resistor. For the resistor to burn out .Well it requires fan air flow to keep it cool and with the ignition off it must still be getting current to it to earth. I am suspecting a faulty automatic control module. I suggest you have it check out for failure.

1995 chev tahoe...AC quit working. fan would

There is a resistor panel that controls the fan speeds behind the glove box on the dash. You remove the glove box and you will see the airbox. Sitting down in the left top, with 2 screws holding it in, will be the resistor panel. It consists of 4 springs and a resistor. All out of veiw, inside the airbox. Remove the 2 screws and unplug the plug. Pull out the old resistor and replace with the new one. It only cost around $15-20 bucks at the local auto part store. This will get your fan blowing. If your fan is blowing but the air is not cold, I would suggest to check and see if the compressor clutch is working properly. If not, try giving it a light tap while running. If it is working, you may want to recharge your freon.

FAN MOTOR CUTS ON AND OFF. FINALLY QUIT RUNNING.

As you are looking into the engine compartment from the front it is to the left of the blower motor.
Here is a diagram to help you find it.

Blower fan resistor module replaced, worked for 2 days quit again

HIGH RESISTANCE IN THE BLOWER MOTOR CAN CAUSE YOUR PROBLEM, OR A BAD RESISTOR.
THERE IS NO REAL GOOD WAY TO CHECK THE RESISTANCE OF THE BLOWER MOTOR.

It's probably the mass airflow sensor and/or oxygen sensors.

2001 Xterra - Replaced fuel pump twice and is still not running.

I am no expert, but I just had a similar problem. The car would shake and buck when accelerating. It finally just died and would not start. After sitting for some time, the car would start and run a while, then do the same thing. I thought fuel pump. The dealer diagnosed distributor. After replacing, the car is running perfect. Something to think about. Good luck.
